Job Description:
SUMMARY: Responsible for planning instruction and/or adaptation of the special education program to enable students to benefit from educational experiences.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Prepares, implements, and evaluates IEPs (including transition plans and behavior management plans) for each assigned student based on individually assessed needs, in accordance with district procedures
Obtains and monitors present levels of functioning/baselines for students with special needs and maintains data collection to show level of progress
Provides direct individual and small group instructional services as needed to assigned students with special needs
Designs learning experiences and utilizes adaptive devices/technology to provide access to general curricular content to individuals with disabilities
Collaborates with general education teachers to ensure student success in the least restrictive environment
Identifies, selects, and modifies instructional resources to meet the needs of the students with varying backgrounds, learning styles, and assessed special needs
Identifies and collaborates with district, community, and agency services to meet the needs of students with special needs
Participates on the school-based intervention team, in-school staffing team and in the screening processes, as appropriate
Participates on evaluation teams for students as appropriate
Monitors and oversees services provided by paraprofessionals and/or other support personnel assigned to classroom and/or student in classroom
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor’s Degree in Special Education
Teaching certificate with Cross Categorical/Learning Disabilities special education endorsement
