POSITION The English Language Learner (ELL) Teacher will help provide and guide instruction for ELL students in grades K-8. The ELL Teacher is passionate about supporting students who are developing language skills. The ELL Teacher holds primary responsibility for providing academic services for students who require additional support to thrive within the school. RESPONSIBILITIES ELL Teacher will demonstrate a relentless drive to improve the minds, characters & lives of students both in and out of school. ELL Teacher will show unwavering commitment to youth achieving greatness. ELL Teacher will create a positive, structured learning environment to ensure that students observe the school’s core values, high expectations, and code of conduct. ELL Teacher will implement curricula and activities to meet academic and language acquisition standards. ELL Teacher will design and implement assessments that measure progress towards academic and language acquisition standards. ELL Teacher will use assessment data to refine curriculum and inform instructional practices. ELL Teacher will participate in the collaborative curriculum internalization process. ELL Teacher will be accountable for students’ mastery of academic and language acquisition standards. ELL Teacher will share responsibility for grade-level and school-wide activities. ELL Teacher will exhibit resilience to persevere and turn challenges into opportunities. ELL Teacher will focus constantly on student learning, thinking critically and strategically to respond to student learning needs. ELL Teacher will communicate effectively with students, families, and colleagues. ELL Teacher will engage families in their children’s education. ELL Teacher will commit to continual professional growth, participating actively in department meetings, faculty meetings, and other meetings. ELL Teacher will participate in a two-week staff orientation and training before school begins, monthly professional development and weekly individual coaching. QUALIFICATIONS Must hold a Bachelor’s degree Hold a valid fingerprint clearance card Spanish/English Immersion (SEI) endorsement is required. Evidence of self-motivation and willingness to be a team player Valid State Certification is helpful but not required, though all candidates must meet criteria to be “highly qualified” including passing the NES K-8 subject knowledge test. Belief in and alignment with Arizona Charter Academy’s core beliefs and educational philosophy is non-negotiable.
