TITLE: INSTRUCTIONAL COACH SALARY: Teacher Placement Schedule

             Plus daily rate over 184 days

                 

QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor’s Degree in Education (Master's preferred).

Possess valid Arizona Teaching or Administrative Certification.

Possess valid Arizona Department of Public Safety Fingerprint Card.

Five years of classroom or administration experience.

Highly Qualified Teacher as defined by Arizona Department of Education.

Possess professional development skills in the area(s) of: communication and conferencing, leadership development, classroom management, standards-based curriculum, peer observation, coaching, mentoring, knowledge of subject matter, planning and delivery of instruction, and assessment of student performance.

Graduate coursework in curriculum content or other educational area.

Ability to collaborate with appropriate District and school-based administrators and programs.

Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing. Successful experience working with diverse populations.

Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate.

REPORTS TO: Curriculum and Instructional Technology Director

JOB GOAL(S): The Instructional Coach is a mentoring position. This individual must serve as a faculty-based professional development coordinator and regularly demonstrate and share their expertise with other teachers. This employee is responsible for assisting in the improvement of instruction through analysis of instructional delivery teaching methods; classroom management, lesson design, identification and management of professional development opportunities; and coaching of strategies related to individual professional development plan goals.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES AND REQUIREMENTS:

Assist teachers on the delivery of instruction, including instructional strategies and techniques, learning styles, student engagement strategies, critical thinking skills in the classroom, and incorporation of SEI strategies into all content areas.

Model direct and explicit systematic instructional delivery with scientifically based instructional research.

Assist teachers on lesson design, which includes lesson planning, writing objectives, backward design, assessment, identification of performance objectives for lesson planning, power standards, unwrapping standards, curriculum mapping, and the incorporation of critical thinking skills into classroom lesson plans based on the Arizona State Standards.

Assist teachers in the implementation of effective instruction using technology in the classroom.

Assist teachers in the process of disaggregating assessment results and data to improve instruction.

Use Assessment tools to assist teachers in methods of instruction (Teach for Success (T4S) Observation Protocol, classroom management sweeps, informal observation, critiquing lesson, video-taping lessons, etc.).

Lead professional development activities, in collaboration with the Curriculum and Instructional Technology Director, including the formation of learning communities.

Assist principal to ensure teachers' lesson plans are engaging and include learning experiences that are aligned with state standards.

Serve as the official liaison between the school sites and district staff development efforts.

Provide and/or facilitate professional development for teachers in the form of training, mini in-services and staff discussions on effective classroom instructional design. Follow-up and extension of staff development training.

Participate in orientation activities as necessary by direction of the Curriculum and Instructional Technology Director.

Collaborate on the adoption of curriculum resources.

Collaborate on the development, implementation, and monitoring of the school site improvement plan.

Provide "directed" individual mentoring as requested by the site principal.

Collaborate with the principal on individual Improvement Plans (Note: Instructional Coach is not to evaluate any staff member solely for administrative purposes.)

Meet frequently with other Instructional Coaches, site principals, and Curriculum and Professional Development Director.

Support and assist in implementing the vision of each school site and district vision statement.

Other duties as assigned by supervisor.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: 195 days HOURS: Normally 7:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.
