Job Description:

Base Salary:

$54,035.00

Performance Pay:

Available annually

New hire experience:

$500 for each full-time year of certified teaching or verified like experience

New hire education:

$65/hour of graduate level credits: BA +45 hours max,

MA +60 hours max $1000 for advanced degrees

Class/Calendar:

Certified Exempt, 187 workdays

Candidates must complete an on-line application which requires appropriate Arizona certification, valid IVP Arizona fingerprint clearance card, evidence of highly qualified status, three letters of recommendation, and transcript of credits.

 

OVERVIEW:

The CTE (Career & Technical Education) Career Exploration Support Specialist collaborates with teachers, counselors, administrators, and district department staff to facilitate the implementation of Mesa Public Schools’ K-12 College, Career, and Community Readiness Framework. This role involves working with stakeholders to integrate the competencies and student outcomes outlined in the framework. Additionally, the Specialist provides support for the district’s college and career online platform, supports 7th to 9th-grade career exploration courses and content, and partners with community and business stakeholders to nurture work-based learning connections and activities.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

 

  • Valid Career and Technical Education Certification in an approved area or Arizona School Counselor Certification. 
  • Effective in communication, planning, organization, presentation, and leadership skills 
  • Proficient technology skills
  • Ability to work with and motivate others
  • Ability to plan and present information/training for the student and adult learner; design and deliver workshops and programs
  • Ability to establish and maintain exemplary professional relationships with teachers, parents, counselors, career specialists, students, community colleges, universities and business/community partners
  • Able to work independently and under stressful timelines 
  • Ability and willingness to work outside the traditional working hours and calendar of teachers, including evenings, weekends, and summers
  • Exhibits professional attitude, appearance, and demeanor
  • Strong commitment to continuous improvement supporting the Mesa Public Schools Promise and strategic goals
  • Ability to effectively communicate (verbal and written)

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

  • Assist in the development and enhancement of online resources and tools to support student career exploration, planning, and readiness.
  • Support 7th to 9th-grade career exploration courses by providing professional learning, resources, materials, and instructional support to teachers.
  • Collaborate with teachers, counselors, administrators, and district department staff to ensure effective implementation of the K-12 College, Career, and Community Readiness Framework.
  • Work closely with stakeholders to integrate the competencies and student outcomes outlined in the framework into existing classes, programs and initiatives.
  • Coordinate meetings, workshops, and training sessions to provide ongoing support and guidance to stakeholders regarding the framework implementation.
  • Provide technical assistance and user support for the district’s college and career online platform, ensuring accessibility and functionality for all users.
  • Collaborate with curriculum specialists to develop and refine course content aligned with the K-12 College, Career, and Community Readiness Framework.
  • Monitor and assess the effectiveness of career exploration courses and provide recommendations for continuous improvement.
  • Collect, analyze, and report data on the implementation of the K-12 College, Career, and Community Readiness Framework, including student outcomes and program effectiveness.
  • Stay informed about current trends, best practices, and research in career and technical education, career readiness, college readiness, and workforce development.
  • Participate in professional development opportunities, conferences, and workshops to enhance knowledge and skills related to the role.
  • Share learning and insights with colleagues and stakeholders to promote continuous improvement and innovation in career and college readiness initiatives.
