Job Description:

The Assistant Headmaster is will work in collaboration with the Headmaster to provide leadership for the planning, development and implementation of a STEM² approach to curricular design and data-driven instructional practices in a charter high school learning environment.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILTIES:

  1. Support the Mission, Vision and Core Values of Maricopa Institute of Technology.
  2. Assist in developing, implementing and monitoring effective results-based marketing plans to show growth on a quarterly basis and understanding of incubation and feeder system
  3. Understand and follow Arizona State Board for Charter Schools policies, statutes, rules and procedures.
  4. Establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, students, parents, and the public
  5. Assist in the supervision of all school personnel in carrying out their responsibilities.
  6. Communicate the high expectancy level of discipline to staff and students
  7. Assist in setting the tone for appropriate dress for the school environment
  8. Assist in ensuring a consistent, rigorous and equitable educational experience for all students in reading, math, science and technology education
  9. Assist in promoting and maintaining a positive and effective school climate by ensuring that all interactions with staff, students, parents, and the public at large are prompt, efficient, helpful and friendly
  10. Participate in any in-service training as may be required
  11. Perform any and all job-related duties assigned by the Headmaster

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

  1. Advanced degree in education, educational administration, curriculum/instruction or a related area from an accredited college or university is required with a strong emphasis on technology integration and data-informed instruction that raises student achievement as measured by standardized test assessments
  2. Experienced working in an advanced charter school environment is preferred
  3. Advanced understanding of technology integrations, hardware and software is preferred
  4. Experience working with a diverse student, parent, and community is preferred
  5. Experience working with advances, gifted and college bound students is preferred
  6. Experience working with English Language Learning students is preferred
  7. At least five (5) years of successful high school teaching experience/preferably in a STEM²-related area is preferred
  8. A minimum of three (3) to five (5) years administrative experience in a principal or assistant principal position in a high school environment is preferred

LICENSES OR CERTIFICATION:

  1. A valid Arizona elementary and/or secondary teaching certificate is required
  2. A valid Arizona administrator’s certificate for Principal is preferred
  3. Full SEI Endorsement is required
  4. ASA Highly Qualified Evaluator Training I &II is preferred
  5. A valid Arizona Administrators Certificate for Superintendent is preferred
  6. Math or Science background and/or certification/HQ is preferred
  7. Doctorate degree in education and/or STEM² field is preferred
  8. A valid Fingerprint Clearance Card
  9. CPR and First Aid Certificates

SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE/ABILITIES:

  1. Advanced technology expertise and experience is required
  2. Preferred Spanish Bilingual
  3. Knowledge and experience in advanced technologies preferred such as:
  • Aligning all MIT STEM² Instruction to Arizona Common Core State Standards
  • 3D Printing
  • Nano Technology and its application
  • Coding and App Development
  • Electron Micro topology
  • Drone application and aeronautical engineering
  • Intermediate and advanced Robotics
  • Intermediate and advanced experience in chemistry, physics and forensic science
  • Knowledge of structural and electrical engineering
  1. Bachelors’ degree in mathematics, science or engineering is preferred
  2. Knowledge in purchasing and inventory control systems
  3. Ability to exercise strict confidentiality in handling sensitive information
  4. Ability to assist in developing strategic, measurable, attainable, realistic, and time-bound goals, aligned to the mission, vision and goals of MIT school

WORKING ENVIRONMENT:

The working environment is fast paces, focused on student achievement, and revolves around positive staff and community. The working environment is primarily an office setting with some travel between partnered schools and school district.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:

Twelve-month position, Administrative – Exempt; benefits in accordance with Board policies
