Job Title:  ​                  Aviation Instructor (Part time)

Supervisor:  ​              Central Campus Administrator 

Employment Terms: 11 Months (Full School Year) – 25 hours/ week

 

Location:                     West-MEC Central Campus

                                    6997 North Glen Harbor Boulevard

                                    Glendale, Arizona 85307

 

Salary Range:            $65,650 - $90,900

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 

●     Provides instruction to improve student achievement in the Aviation Program

●     Conduct classroom and shop instruction utilizing proper instructional techniques, practices and following approved curriculum. Utilize equipment and training aids in daily lessons.

●     Meet and deliver all instructional objectives in assigned areas as part of the FAA Part 147 AMT program. Maintain lab equipment and supplies in order to support instructional objectives.

●     Demonstrates and differentiates instructional methods for the purpose of providing an effective program that addresses individual student learning needs.

●     Develops a variety of written materials (e.g. syllabus, unit and daily lesson plans, curricular maps, assessments, attendance records, anecdotal communications, etc.) for the purpose of documenting and communicating student progress.

●     Assesses student progress towards objectives, expectations, and/or goals for the purpose of planning instruction, providing feedback to students and communicating achievement.

●     Manages student behavior in a variety of educational environments (e.g. classroom, school grounds, hallways, restrooms, fieldtrips, etc.) for providing a safe and positive learning environment.

●     Engages students in leadership development by serving as an advisor for student organizations.

●     Communicates effectively with students, parents and colleagues at the campus level to improve the overall quality of student outcomes and achievement of established program goals.

●     Participates in a variety of meetings and professional development activities for the purpose of professional growth in an educational setting.

●     Establishes and maintains a good rapport with community partners and advisory councils.

●     Performs other related duties as assigned to strengthen the program.

 

Qualifications:

●     A valid Airframe and Powerplant Certificate.

●     Able to acquire Arizona Department Education (ADE) CTE standard K-12 teaching certificate.

●     Obtain State of Arizona fingerprint clearance card.

●     Obtain an Arizona Driver’s License.

●     Willingness to work with high school students.

●     Demonstrate good people skills.

●     Strong organizational and communication skills.

●     Able to work afternoon, evening and weekend hours.

●     Good working knowledge of math and science applicable to the Aviation industry.

●     Ability to adapt to change, i.e., working with high school students.

●     Understands computer technology and able to use an integral part of instruction.

 

Preferred Requirements:

●     Five plus years of teaching experience or related industry experience.

●     Experience as it relates to FAA Standards and Program.
