This faculty member would teach one beginning viola class, and four intermediate-advanced low strings (viola, cello, and bass) classes. Students alternate between instrument sectional classes and orchestra rehearsals. Time is built in the schedule for collaboration with the other high school string faculty to work on orchestral and chamber music.
This instructor will have prep time built into the schedule for curriculum planning, concert/event planning, meetings, integrating, and assessing. The teacher will be responsible for collaborating with the string department on curriculum to align with the national and state performing arts standards and social emotional learning (SEL) competencies. They will also be asked to differentiate their curriculum using additional resources as needed to support student growth and achievement. This teacher works closely with the String Department (Orchestra Director and Violin Technique Instructor). Assessments include periodic practice checks, comprehensive playing exams, group and individual creative projects, and public performance.
This is a part-time, salaried position that follows the faculty school calendar. Classes are held on the ASA Campus in the afternoon.
