SUMMARY

The Tucson Unified School District (TUSD) is looking for Master Teachers who have proven outstanding classroom teaching performance as evidenced by performance evaluation results or other indicators including but not limited to references, awards, articles, etc. and who have demonstrated student gains from standardized testing or other measures. These teachers will have a demonstrated cycle of lesson planning, implementation, and assessment that are standards-based and aligned to the district guidelines and that include accelerated learning expectations, curriculum, and/or outcomes. The TUSD Master Teacher will effectively manage the learning environment to support high student engagement in an accelerated learning environment. Prepare lesson plans in collaboration with teacher teams (e.g. PLC team, student teacher, etc.). Evaluate and monitor student performance using actionable data to drive decision-making to advance student achievement. Understand and appreciate diversity; apply and use culturally responsive pedagogy and equitable practices to produce a respectful environment where every student feels valued. Demonstrate commitment to continuous learning at a personal level, at a mentorship level, and at a peer level.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Appropriate Arizona Teaching Certificate - (Elementary, Middle Grades, or Secondary Certificate with one of the following approved areas: * History * Middle Grades Social Studies * Social Studies)
Arizona IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card.
Minimum of four (4) years of teaching experience.

Certain endorsement/approved areas(s) may be required for highly qualified/appropriately certified purposes.

Teaching experience and/or education in accelerated learning environments including but not limited to courses, programs, and/or curriculum.
Experience with and a desire to work with student teachers.
Experience with multi-cultural curriculum and/or culturally responsive pedagogy.
Experience in peer collaboration and planning in PLC format.
Experience analyzing and interpreting student achievement data and its application to instruction (Data literacy skills).
Experience with project-based learning or other strategies that encourage high student engagement.

PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS
Bilingual (Spanish/English).
Six (6) or more years of teaching experience.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Availability to work flex hours as needed, to include evenings and weekends in activities such as:

PD, conferences, workshops, presentations, etc.
Meetings or other events associated with student teacher(s)
Developing and/or collaborating with community partnerships, community and business organizations, etc. to incorporate real-world skills into standards-based lesson design


ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS AFTER HIRE
Proof of immunity to rubeola (measles) and rubella (German measles), or proof of MMR immunization.

COMMENTS

Pay Range $57,200 to $64,700/year

Effective: 2024-2025 SCHOOL YEAR
Location: Wakefield Middle School - 6th Ave & 44th St Area

FTE: 1.0 - 7.5 hours per day
Work Calendar: 9.5 month

Positions less than 30 hours per week are not eligible for district benefits.
