JOB DESCRIPTION:
Provide educational opportunities of a consistently high standard to academically gifted students.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Arizona Elementary Teacher certification with Gifted endorsement
- SEI or full Bilingual or ESL endorsement (preferred)
- Three (3) years successful experience as a classroom teacher and/or evidence of master teaching skills
- Experience in individualizing for student instructional needs
- Experience with gifted students (preferred)
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assist in the identification of students by administering and scoring gifted tests; analyzing data for gifted placement.
- Assist in identification of gifted students by helping to identify appropriate methodology to accurately assess abilities of students.
- Assist in the evaluation, development and improvement of courses of study and instructional activities for gifted students.
- Teach gifted students by developing lesson activities and materials to meet the prescribed needs of students and communicate those needs to classroom teachers and parents.
- Assist individual classroom teachers in their instructional and classroom planning for gifted students.
- Assist in the selection of materials and other technology, for the gifted program and for gifted students.
- Support and promote gifted education and the needs of gifted students.
- Share specialized training with other teachers.
- Work with other teachers of the gifted to plan curriculum and activities for gifted students.
- Maintain professional competence through in-service educational activities provided by the District and/or self-selected professional growth activities.
- Maintain knowledge of current practices and newest methods for working with gifted students.
- Continually evaluate and develop programs to meet the needs of district populations.
- Conference with parents of students and appropriately plan for translators as needed.
- Attend all necessary trainings and department meetings.
- Travel to various sites within the district.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
