Job Summary

Scottsdale Community College (SCC) is seeking a full-time Associate Vice President (AVP) of Institutional Research. This position will provide executive-level leadership for the college's strategic planning, grants, and institutional research functions. The AVP also serves as the college's Accreditation Liaison Officer with the Higher Learning Commission and provides leadership for student outcomes assessment, program review, compliance, and other college/system initiatives. The AVP position demonstrates a commitment to service excellence, innovation, student success, integrity, and diversity in the performance of job duties. The AVP also serves on the Institutional Effectiveness Council, collaborates with peers from the other Maricopa colleges, and partners with district office colleagues. To best serve the students, department, and college, this position requires a physical presence on campus.

Essential Functions

20% - Leadership: Leads the Institutional Research (IR) Office and staff, which includes planning, directing, organizing, assigning, reviewing, and evaluating the work of staff. Oversees performance management, coaching, professional development, and effective communication of IR staff. Develops, manages, and administers a departmental budget and expenditures. Collaborates with colleagues across the college and district (as appropriate) in order to lead and support institutional initiatives, policies, and procedures, as well as engage fully in the college's shared governance processes.

20% - Strategic Planning: Coordinates and oversees the development, implementation, and communication of the college's Strategic Plan and related plans. Conducts and oversees research in support of strategic, budgetary, and operational planning. Coordinates the institutional research necessary to evaluate the effectiveness of the college, its units, programs, and services.

20% - Compliance: Serves as the college Accreditation Liaison Officer (ALO) with The Higher Learning Commission (HLC); plans, implements, and leads college accreditation-related activities. Provides expertise and guidance on issues related to compliance with federal and state regulations, as well as both regional and programmatic accreditation requirements. Supports the college's various institutional units as necessary by providing expertise, recommendations, and oversight for compliance-related issues. Engages with other compliance and accreditation personnel throughout the district as needed. Collaboratively works with VPAA and senior leadership.

20% - College Support: Serves as liaison and representative with other college units and committees. Researches, provides training, and helps to implement industry standards, trends, best practices, and emerging technologies within the IR office and across the college in order to improve processes and institutional effectiveness. Ensures the development, regular updating, and implementation of a college data literacy plan.

15% - Grants: Provides leadership of college grant development and management. Collaborates with senior leadership and faculty to align grant-seeking efforts with the SCC's strategic initiatives. Evaluates potential grant opportunities based on eligibility criteria, alignment with institutional goals, funding size, and potential impact. Provides guidance and oversight in crafting budget justifications and supporting documents that demonstrate institutional capacity, project feasibility, and alignment with funder priorities. Establishes frameworks to monitor grant-funded activities, evaluate outcomes, and communicate progress to stakeholders and funders. Develops training programs and resources to enhance grant writing skills and institutional capacity for grant development across departments. Disseminates best practices in grant development, management, and compliance to ensure efficiency and effectiveness in securing and administering grants. Evaluates the impact of grant-funded initiatives on institutional goals, student outcomes, and community engagement. Leverages data-driven insights and feedback to refine grant strategies, improve processes, and inform future grant-seeking efforts.

5% - Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications for Student Affairs or non-academic pathway: Master's Degree from a regionally accredited institution in education or field related to area of assignment and four years of progressively responsible management and/or leadership experience in field of assignment that includes two years of supervisory experience. Examples of student affairs academic support management/leadership experience includes: program management, project management, budget development and management related to programs or projects, staff supervision, policy development, administration, evaluation and compliance. Equivalency allowed for Non Academic area.

OR

Minimum Qualifications for Academic pathway: Master's Degree in a teaching field related to area(s) of assignment and four years of experience in an academic leadership and/or supervisory role in higher education and three years of teaching that includes curriculum/coursework development. Examples of academic leadership/supervisory experience includes: division/department chair, project management, policy development, administration, evaluation and compliance, committee leadership, program director, and shared governance. No equivalency.

Desired Qualifications

A. Doctorate degree from an accredited college or university.

B. Five (5) or more years' of progressively responsible management and/or leadership experience in Institutional Effectiveness or Research Offices.

C. Five (5) or more years' experience supporting or implementing strategic college-wide, operational, or departmental planning programs and initiatives at a college or university.

D. Five (5) or more years' working with SQL and/or analytical software such as Tableau, Power BI, Look, R, etc. for managing complex data sets related to higher education.

E. Three (3) years' experience working as an Accreditation Liaison Officer (ALO) or similar accreditation-related position.

F. Three (3) years' experience working with grant development, implementation, and/or management.

G. Three (3) or more years' demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion as it relates to students, faculty and staff in a college or university environment.

Special Working Conditions

Travel to campus during the interview/selection process will be at the candidate's own expense.

Will be required to travel or be assigned to other MCCCD locations.

May be required to work evenings and weekends.

May require prolonged periods of sitting and viewing a computer screen.

May be required to lift or carry up to 25 lbs.

Will be required to work in an area of light to heavy noise levels daily
