Job Description:

Position/Title: Special Education Paraprofessional
Terms of Employment: Ongoing; Both Part Time and Full Time Positions Open
Start Date: Immediately
Salary: $18-$20/hour
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

Reports to: Director of Student Support Services
Evaluation: In accordance with Institutional Evaluation Model

Description:
Part-time paraeducator to support MS and HS students with IEPs in their classes.
Minimum Qualifications:
● Bachelor’s Degree (from an accredited institution)
● AZ (IVP) Fingerprint Clearance Card
● Demonstrated ability and experience with diverse populations
Additional Preferred Qualifications:
● Demonstrated ability and experience with working with students of all learning abilities.
● Knowledge and/or experience in Special Education.
Duties and Responsibilities:
● Work with individual or small groups of students to reinforce learning of standards or skills
initially introduced and outlined by certified staff. This includes providing input into teaching
strategies and planning.
● Assist certified staff in devising special strategies for reinforcing learning standards and skills
based on an empathetic understanding of individual students, their needs, interests, and abilities.
● Work with one student or small group, reinforcing lessons with additional tutoring, individualized
study tasks as directed by the teacher.
● Monitor student work, correct papers, and record evidence of student’s learning and progress, and
give regular reports to teachers. In addition, checking student progress on assignments,
administering and scoring tests under teacher direction.
● Serve as the chief source of information and help any guest teacher assigned in the absence of the
regular certified staff.
● Perform clerical, classroom maintenance, and instructional duties as assigned by the certified
staff.
● Alert certified staff to any problem or special information about an individual student.
● Consulting and collaborating with Special Education and Regular Education teachers as well as
related service staff.
● Perform assigned supervision of students during lunch periods, and on field trips.
● Perform assigned non-instructional student-focused classroom duties, such as monitoring
students during lunch hour.

● Participate as needed in the Individualized Education Program meetings and behavioral
management planning for students.
● Participate in in-service training programs as approved.
● Demonstrate ethical behavior and confidentiality of information about students in the school
environment and community.
