Job Summary:

 

·       The position assists the Deputy Associate Superintendent with all areas of the Arizona achievement assessment program. The state achievement assessment program includes Arizona’s Science Assessment (AZSCI), Arizona’s Academic Standards Assessment (AASA), ACT Aspire and ACT for English Language Arts and Mathematics.

·       This individual is responsible for directing work with the assessment vendor(s) on the design, implementation, and analysis of statewide achievement assessments.

·       Occasional in-state and rare out-of-state travel is required for this position.

 

Job Duties:

 

  • Leads communication about achievement assessments to all stakeholder groups within ADE and outside ADE utilizing various formats and media as appropriate
  • Coordinates the review, development, and revision of test items, test forms, and ancillary materials related to the administration of state assessments
  • Leads the review, development, and revision of test support materials, test results interpretation materials, and presentations for educator and community review meetings
  • Manages the development and dissemination of testing policies and procedures including test administration, security, and confidentiality
  • Oversight of the administration of the assessments including providing outstanding support for both computer-based testing and paper-based testing
  • In partnership with DAS of Assessment, Assessment Content Specialists, and Assessment Psychometrician, coordinate with test vendor(s) on test development, administration, scoring, and reporting, and test invalidations
  • Oversees the revision and maintenance of the applicable ADE Assessment web pages and the applicable content in the ADE Content Management System including all aspects of 508 compliance

Knowledge in:

  • The relationship between standards, assessment, and instruction
  • Standards-based practice and data driven instruction
  • Standards-based (Criterion) Referenced Test concepts
  • Arizona Academic Content Standards.
  • Program planning; leadership principles; learning theory
  • Principles of adult learning; assessment principles; professional development, and the Arizona Academic Content Standards
  • Applicants must have Teacher Certification
  • Applicants must have  experience in curriculum and assessment at the school and district level

·       A Bachelor’s degree in Education or related field, or equivalent experience to substitute for the degree, is required

Selective Preferences:

 

Preference will be given to those applicants with:

·       An advanced degree

·       Experience with accessibility needs of students, knowledge of state and federal laws and Arizona Administrative Code

·       Supervisory experience

Retirement:

 

You will be required to participate in the Arizona State Retirement System (ASRS) upon your 27th week of employment, subject to waiting period. On or shortly after, your first day of employment you will be provided with enrollment instructions and effective date.
