Job Description:

OVERVIEW:
Develops, plans, coordinates, and provides a physical therapy program for identified students in the district.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor of Science and master’s degree in a major field of Physical Therapy required.
  • Completion of six to nine months of supervised clinical affiliations
  • Current license with Arizona State Board of Physical Therapy required
  • Obtain and maintain a valid IVP Clearance Card
  • Two years’ pediatric clinical experience or elementary school experience preferred
  • Knowledge of medical/surgical/pediatric information and indications for physical therapy treatment
  • Ability to exert 10-30 lbs. of force, to lift, push, pull or otherwise move objects
  • Knowledge of and adheres to all policies, regulations and rules

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

  • Develops, implements, and monitors IEPs for all students eligible for physical therapy services
  • Develops, implements, and coordinates a physical therapy program, including philosophy, vision, departmental procedures and goals
  • Provides direct service to students as indicated on specific IEP's
  • Evaluates students using appropriately conveyed information with parents and school teams
  • Interprets assessment findings and appropriately conveys information to parents and school terms
  • Consults with school staff, parents and agencies regarding student needs, progress, and instructional modifications
  • Maintains student services, administrative and other department records in accordance with the Arizona Physical Therapy Practice Act as well as school district, State and Federal policies
  • Evaluates and reports on student progress
  • Communicates and consults with school staff, parents, administrators, physicians, community, and other professionals effectively both orally and in written form
  • Apply reason to research and solving moderately complex issues with little or no assistance
  • Interpret an assortment of instructions furnished in variable forms
  • Maintain documentation, organize, and maintain records, files and program information
  • Gather data, analyzing findings and applying logic and reason
  • Participates in professional growth activities
  • Establishes and maintains good rapport with students, employees, community members and vendors
  • Maintains a high level of ethical behavior and confidentiality
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned
