Job Description:
SUMMARY
To work in a partnership with students, staff, parents and the community in accordance with the district’s vision and mission to promote student achievement for children who have disabilities. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: To be eligible for this position, an applicant must meet the following required qualifications. Verification of these required qualifications is necessary.
· High School diploma or equivalent
· Must be 18 years of age or older
· Must pass a character reference check as well as state and community fingerprint screening
· May be required to submit to a drug test
· Must be in good physical health and be able to pass a physical examination
· Must know or be willing to learn to operate vacuum cleaners, carpet shampoo machine, and lawn equipment
· Must demonstrate aptitude and competence for assigned responsibilities and alternatives as specified by the supervisor
· Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Keeps building and premises, including sidewalks, driveways, and play areas neat and clean
· Monitors heat, ventilation, and air conditioning system to provide temperatures appropriate to the seasons and to ensure economical use of fuel, water, and electricity
· Cleans driveways, parking areas, and steps as appropriate
· Checks daily to ensure that all exit doors are open and all panic bolts are working properly during hours of building occupancy
· Cleans classrooms daily and dust furniture
· Cleans corridors each day, and during the day when their condition requires it
· Scrubs hoses, and disinfects toilet floors as needed and cleans all sanitary fixtures and drinking fountains as needed
· Keeps the grounds free of rubbish
· Makes such minor repairs as he/she is capable of doing
· Reports major repairs needed promptly to supervisor
· Performs other duties as may be assigned by the supervisor
· The school district reserves the right to amend this job description as needed
SKILL, KNOWLEDGE, AND ABILITY REQUIREMENTS:
SKILLS are required to perform multiple, technical tasks with a potential need to upgrade skills to meet changing job conditions. Specific skills required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include Operating equipment used in skilled trades, power and hand tools, etc.; adhering to safety practices; handling hazardous materials; and planning and managing projects.
KNOWLEDGE is required to read technical information, compose a variety of documents, and/or facilitate group discussions; and solve practical problems. Specific knowledge required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job includes variety of skilled trades and safety
ABILITY is required to gather, collate, and/or classify data; and consider a wide variety of factors when using equipment. Flexibility is required to work with others in a variety of circumstances; work with data utilizing defined but different processes; and operate equipment using a variety of processes. Ability is also required to work with a significant diversity of individuals and/or groups; work with a variety of data; and utilize a variety of types of job-related equipment. In working with others, problem solving is required to identify issues and create action plans. Problem solving with data requires analysis based on organizational objectives; and problem solving with equipment is significant. Specific abilities required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include adapting to changing work priorities; communicating with diverse groups; meeting deadlines & schedules; setting priorities; working as part of a team; and working with constant & sustained interruptions.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Generally, the job requires 5% sitting, 50% walking, and 45% standing. The job is performed under some temperature extremes and some hazardous conditions.
WORKING ENVIRONMENT:
· Work may be performed outdoors in various weather conditions.
· May require occasional evening or weekend work depending on school events or maintenance needs.
