ABOUT U.S. ARMY JUNIOR RESERVICE OFFICER TRAINING CORP (JROTC) PROGRAM
The U.S. Army Junior Reserve Officer Training Corp (JROTC) program emphasizes character education, student achievement, wellness, leadership and diversity in our secondary schools. The purpose as defined in Title 10 United States Code, Section 2031 is to instill in students in United States secondary educational institutions the values of citizenship, service to the United States, personal responsibility and a sense of accomplishment. JROTC is the Department of Defense’s (DoD) largest youth development program in the world. The JROTC Program’s mission philosophy is “To Motivate Young People to be Better Citizens” and it is a service to our nation that provides Cadets the motivation and skills to remain drug free, graduate from high school and become successful citizens. The success of the program is largely due to great Army JROTC Instructors in the classroom.

APPLICATION PROCESS

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Retired Army officer or retired warrant officer with a baccalaureate degree to serve as the SAI (Senior Army Instructor). USACC will determine the applicant’s eligibility, suitability and qualifications. https://www.usarmyjrotc.com/before-you-apply/
  • Either an Arizona Department of Education Standard Career and Technical Education Industrial and Emerging Technologies (SCTIET) certificate – OR – a Standard Specialized Career and Technical Education Industrial Emerging Technologies Certificate (SSCTEIET)
  • Valid Arizona Department of Education Standard JROTC Teaching Certificate, 9-12

INSTRUCTOR ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Army JROTC Instructors manage the educational, administrative and operational aspects of the unit as well as implement policies and procedures administered by the school and the U.S. Army.
 
The SAI (Senior Army Instructor) is the department head and chief instructor of the JROTC unit. The senior instructor will work in coordination with school officials to establish procedures relating to the administration, control and training of JROTC Cadets. In addition to teaching in the classroom, there are a number of activities connected with the JROTC program that will require JROTC instructors to work outside of the regular school hours.
 
Roles and Responsibilities – Army Regulation 145-2 and Cadet Command Regulation 145-2 contain specific information pertaining to the roles and responsibilities within the JROTC Program.
 
JROTC Instructors are employees of the host school, subject to the same policies, procedures and terms of employment as any other teacher.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT
Salary based upon Army Minimum Instructor Pay (MIP)
10 month contract
