Job Description:

QUALIFICATIONS: 

Master's degree (M. A. or M. S.). Certificate of Clinical Competency (CCC) from the American Speech and Hearing Association. Arizona Speech and Language Certification from Arizona Department of Education. Speech and Language Pathology License from the Arizona Department Health Services. Certification in the Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) training.         

 

REPORTS TO:

Principal/Director of Student Services

 

JOB GOAL:

Diagnoses and treats students eligible and in need of school-based speech, language therapy due to a speech/language impairment that impedes the student’s ability to access the general curriculum.

 

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Collaborates with staff to enhance speech and language development in the classroom setting.
  2. Completes all job duties within required timelines per federal and state law, district policy and procedures.
  3. Acts as case manager for students whose primary eligibility category is speech language impairment.
  4. Participates in Child Find activities as appropriate.
  5. Provides professional development for teachers and support staff.
  6. Provides accommodations in the classroom including visual aids or supports, or augmentative communication systems.
  7. Provide speech and language therapy for eligible students.
  8. Participates in multidisciplinary evaluation teams to identify students in need of special education.
  9. Participates in team meetings for the development of students’ individualized education programs.
  10. Completes relevant paperwork within required timelines per federal and state law, district policy and procedures.
  11. Supervises speech and language therapy assistants as needed.
  12. Supervises speech language therapists who are completing their Clinical Fellowship, practicum, externship, internship, and/or clinical hours as needed.
  13. Maintains records and bills Medicaid In Public Schools.
  14. Performs other job related duties as assigned.

TECHNOLOGY SKILLS:

  1. To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Internet and District software, preferred accounting used software and Microsoft office (Word, Excel, Publisher, PowerPoint, and other appropriate technology software).
  2. Knowledge of appropriate business machines and telephones.
  3. Monitor special system(s), not limited to, including security and fire alarm systems.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:

  1. Ten-month, full time, employee pay and benefits in accordance with Board policy.
  2. FLSA: Exempt

EVALUATION: 

  1. Performance to be evaluated in accordance with the Board policy.

Salary: $77,246+, based on experience
