Job Summary:

The K-8 Paraprofessional provides instructional support to teachers and assists students in achieving their academic and personal goals. This position involves working closely with students in the classroom, supporting their learning needs, and fostering a positive educational environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Instructional Support: Assist teachers in delivering lessons and instructional activities, providing one-on-one or small group support to students as needed.
  • Student Engagement: Encourage student participation and engagement in classroom activities, promoting a positive and inclusive learning atmosphere.
  • Behavior Management: Implement behavior management strategies to support students’ social and emotional development, ensuring a safe and respectful classroom environment.
  • Monitoring Progress: Observe and monitor student progress, providing feedback to teachers regarding individual student needs and performance.
  • Classroom Organization: Help maintain an organized and tidy classroom, preparing materials and resources for lessons and activities.
  • Collaboration: Work collaboratively with teachers, special education staff, and other professionals to support students with diverse learning needs.
  • Record Keeping: Assist in maintaining accurate records of student progress and behavior, as well as participating in meetings and discussions regarding student development.
  • Other Duties: Perform all other assigned tasks and duties as required.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; associate degree or higher preferred.
  • Previous experience working with children in an educational setting is a plus.
  • Knowledge of child development and effective instructional strategies.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment and adapt to changing situations.
  • Arizona IVP fingerprint clearance card required.
  • Substitute certification may be required.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift and assist students as needed.
  • Ability to stand, walk, and engage with students for extended periods.
