Physical Education Teacher (Grades 7-12)
Position Purpose
As a PE & Health Teacher, you will design and implement engaging lesson plans aligned with state and district standards, focusing on weightlifting, fitness, and overall wellness. Your role will include developing and delivering dynamic lessons that promote physical fitness, coordination, agility, rhythm, dance, exercise, and sports.
Essential Functions
- Teaching students fundamental and advanced skills in physical fitness, sports, and health education.
- Fostering growth in key life skills such as leadership, teamwork, responsibility, and social interaction while maintaining a positive and safe learning environment.
- Providing individualized feedback and support to all students, including those with special needs, and adjusting instruction to meet diverse learning styles and abilities.
- Conducting regular assessments of student progress and adapting teaching methods to ensure growth and success.
- Staying updated on the latest trends and research in education through professional development activities such as workshops, seminars, and conferences.
- Managing accurate records for student attendance, grades, and achievements in line with district policies and legal requirements.
- Supporting extracurricular activities, such as organizing athletic events, performances, and school assemblies.
- Promoting active parental involvement and communicating clearly with students and families regarding academic progress and expectations.
- Enforcing student behavior standards and collaborating with colleagues to maintain a constructive learning environment.
- Working closely with other physical education teachers and grade-level teams to share best practices and support student development.
- Selecting, managing, and maintaining instructional materials, supplies, and equipment for physical education classes.
- Ensuring that all equipment and facilities are in good working condition and meet safety standards.
Additional Duties
Performs other related tasks as assigned by the Principal and other central office administrators as designated by the Superintendent.

Equipment
Uses standard office equipment such as personal computers, printers, copy and fax machines, and telephones.
Travel Requirements
Travels to school district buildings and professional meetings as required.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Knowledge of current physical education instructional methods, as well as differentiated instruction based upon student learning styles.
- Knowledge of data information systems, data analysis and the formulation of action plans.
- Knowledge of applicable federal and state laws and regulations regarding education and students, as well as relating to health education.
- Knowledge of physiology, health and nutrition, biology and biological functions, anatomy, hygiene, exercise, and best ways to promote physical and mental well-being.
- Ability to use computer network system and software applications as needed.
- Ability to organize and coordinate work.
- Ability to communicate effectively with students and parents.
- Ability to engage in self-evaluation with regard to performance and professional growth.
- Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with others contacted in the course of work.
Physical and Mental Demands, Work Hazards
Works in standard office and school building environments.
Certification/License:
- [State] State Certification as a Health Teacher preferred.
- Motor Vehicle Operator's License or ability to provide own transportation.
Education:
- Bachelors from an accredited college or university in education discipline applicable to teaching assignment
Experience:
Successful prior teaching experience for the appropriate grade level preferred.
