Job Title: Instructional Coach
Reports to: Director of Teaching and Learning
Location: Multiple School Sites
Position Goal:
This position will provide positive, collaborative leadership with the building principals and other staff for the continuous improvement of student learning. Working with the school principals, the coach shall be responsible for leading professional development, supporting teachers with their planning, modeling instruction for teachers, and planning for the new Google Classroom framework. The coach will guide teachers in utilizing data to differentiate instruction in the classrooms with specific emphasis on literacy and writing.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Valid Arizona State Teaching certificate
- Valid Arizona IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card
- Demonstrated experience in improving instruction and working with an at-risk population
- Experience in implementing curriculum, assessment, and instruction that improve learning performance
- Prior experience in designing and implementing research-based, best practices that have increased student achievement and for preparing students for college and/or career readiness
- Prior experience in coaching teachers, using data to guide instruction, and leading teams of teachers
Job Functions
This list of essential job functions is not exhaustive and may be supplemented as necessary. Depending upon individual assignment, the Instructional Coach may perform all or a combination of several of the following duties:
- Guide teachers in the preparation of teaching materials, lesson plans and how to document student progress
- Assist teachers in assessing and monitoring students to provide feedback to students, parents, and administration regarding student progress, expectations, and goals by using quality classroom-based assessments
- Collaborate with school personnel, parents, and various community agencies to improve the quality of student outcomes, develop solutions, and plan curriculum and willing to work with grade level team
- Direct instructional assistants, volunteers, and/or student aides to provide an effective school program and address the needs of individual students while being supportive of parent volunteers in the classroom
- Utilize district-adopted curriculum to guide instruction
- Establish and maintain standards of student behavior needed to provide an orderly, productive environment for learning
- Communicate regularly and positively with staff members and administrators
- Guide new staff in the process of opening/closing of school year
- Plan and lead assigned staff development
- Collaborate with teachers in setting up sound student discipline and supervision techniques
- Maintain consistent presence at assigned worksite and regular work hours
- Professionally interact with students, staff, and public
- Establish and maintain professional contacts with students and staff
- Comply with all district policies and procedures
- Comply with the Code of Professional Conduct
- Perform other duties as assigned
