Job Description:
Applications are being accepted for the position of Elementary Assistant Principal with the Mesa Unified School District. The Elementary Assistant Principal reports directly to the Elementary Principal. The starting date is approximately July 1, 2025. The beginning salary for this 10.75-month position is approximately $81,546, dependent upon preparation and like experience.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Direct and supervise the student activity program, the athletic program or the registration process.
- Assist the principal in the general administration of the school and assume the role and responsibility for the principal in his/her absence as assigned.
- Administer school rules regarding attendance.
- Assist in maintaining discipline throughout the student body, and deal with special cases as necessary.
- Assist in the implementation of District curriculum, which reflects Arizona academic standards.
- Assist in the evaluation of classified and certificated staff.
- Assist in the selection of school personnel.
- Provide for the health and safety of students and staff.
- Coordinate student funds.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- State of Arizona administrative certification. Applicants must have on file in the Human Resources Department a copy of the appropriate valid certificate or evidence of eligibility to be appropriately certificated by the Arizona Department of Education.
- A minimum of three years of successful teaching experience.
- Specific administrative experience through internship and/or previous employment.
- Professional growth evidenced in program completion in educational administration.
- Emphasis will be given to evidence about the applicant which indicates:
- Knowledge of Arizona academic standards and ability to interpret test data to improve instruction and achievement.
- Effective professional relationships with students, teachers, administrators, parents and the community.
- Educational leadership in the profession through membership and participation in the community and in the professional organizations as well as activities with students, teachers, community and individual projects.
- Strong organizational ability in all aspects of educational programs.
- Skill in effective decision making.
- Ability to communicate effectively with faculty and student body.
- Forward-looking in educational views and evidence of a willingness to accept change.
- Demonstrated competence in planning and developing educational facilities.
