Job Description:

Applications are being accepted for the position of Senior High School Principal with the Mesa Unified School District.  The Senior High School Principal reports directly to the Area Assistant Superintendent.  The starting date is approximately July 1, 2025.  The beginning salary for this 12-month position is approximately $104,817, dependent upon preparation and like experience.

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Provide strong instructional leadership for implementation of Arizona academic standards addressed in the District’s curriculum.
  • Develop and nurture a productive learning climate.
  • Involve and lead staff in interpreting test data to improve instruction and achievement.
  • Evaluate the school's instructional strategies and make adjustments as necessary in order to achieve success in all programs.
  • Supervise and evaluate staff members in accordance with District procedures.
  • Safeguard health and well-being of pupils and staff.
  • Establish professional relationships with school patrons.
  • Maintain and improve the physical aspects of the school plant.
  • Administer the financial budget of the school plant and program.
  • Select, orient and develop school personnel.
  • Implement Board policies and administrative rules and regulations relating to the school.

 

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • State of Arizona administrative certification. Applicants must have on file in the Human Resources Department a copy of the appropriate valid certificate or evidence of eligibility to be appropriately certificated by the Arizona Department of Education.
  • A minimum of three years of successful teaching experience.
  • Specific administrative experience through internship and/or previous employment.
  • Professional growth evidenced in program completion in educational administration.
  • Emphasis will be given to evidence about the applicant which indicates:
    1. Knowledge of Arizona academic standards and ability to interpret test data to improve instruction and achievement.
    2. Effective professional relationships with students, teachers, administrators, parents and the community.
    3. Educational leadership in the profession through membership and participation in the community and in the professional organizations as well as activities with students, teachers, community and individual projects.
    4. Strong organizational ability in all aspects of educational programs.
    5. Skill in effective decision making.
    6. Ability to communicate effectively with faculty and student body.
    7. Forward-looking in educational views and evidence of a willingness to accept change.
    8. Demonstrated competence in planning and developing educational facilities.
