Job Description:

SUMMARY:This positionprovides supervision and leadership in education, operations, instruction and community relations at assigned school for the School District.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

·         Supervises, manages, coordinates, prioritizes and schedules the daily educational and operational functions for an assigned school and assigned staff

·         Interviews, recommends hires, trains, evaluates work performance and disciplines certified and support staff in accordance with District personnel policies and procedures

·         Oversees and directs the total school instructional programs and services

·         Coordinates District services available to the school

·         Establishes and administers guidelines for conduct

·         Facilitates a variety of meetings for staff, students, parent/teacher conferences, Individual Education Plan

·         Development, Parent, Teacher, Student Organization (PTSO) and Site Council

·         Identifies school needs for development of short and long term goals

·         Develops and communicates vision, goals and objectives for the School to the community and staff

·         Delegates staff members to specific assignments and assigns students to appropriate teachers and programs

·         Develops and organizes school policies and procedures for in-service training, fiscal accounting and inventory

·         Oversees the maintenance and use of school facilities, student records, attendance reporting, counseling, student discipline, student activities and community relations

·         Administers and allocates budgetary funds; maintains inventory of supplies and materials

·         Supervises student programs such as before and after school, recess, and lunch break

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

·         Knowledge of District rules, regulations, policies and procedures

·         Knowledge of principles of applicable federal and state statutes, rules, regulations and guidelines

·         Knowledge of principles of management, supervision and training methods and techniques

·         Knowledge of principles of accounting, bookkeeping and inventory management practices

·         Knowledge of principles of confidential and regulatory school records and files management  practices

·         Knowledge of principles of curriculum evaluation, development, revision and implementation practices

·         Knowledge of customer service methods and techniques

·         Ability to speak and read English proficiently

·         Skill in researching, analyzing, interpreting, understanding and applying pertinent federal, state and District rules, regulations, policies and procedures

·         Skill in working with, motivating and maintaining discipline of student population

·         Skill in coordinating, delegating, assigning, training and evaluating assigned staff work performance

·         Skill in maintaining, updating, retrieving and reviewing confidential and school files, records and databases

·         Skill in written and oral communications

·         Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships

QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS:

Education & Experience:

·         Masters’ Degree in Education, School Administration or equivalent

·         Three (3) years of teaching experience

·         AZ State Department of Education Administrator (Principal) Certificate

·         Criminal justice/Fingerprint clearance

·         Maintain requirements for access to Fort Huachuca

Any equivalent combination of training, education and experience that meets minimum requirements

Computer Proficiency: Demonstrated general proficiency in computer programs such as Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook and job specific computer programs.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to reach with hands and arms. Work requires some standing, walking, bending, lifting and/or carrying up to 40 pounds. May be required to restrain students with behavioral problems, lift and/or transfer students from wheelchairs to special seating.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

This position regularly works indoors. The noise level in the work environment is generally quiet to moderate and may become excessively noisy at times. Will have contact with employees, external agencies and the public. May be exposed to infectious diseases, air, water and bodily fluid borne pathogens.
