General Description:
Under the direction of the special education teacher, the behavior coach will provide assistance to children who are in a special education program.
Qualifications:
Experience working with emotionally/behaviorally disabled/disordered students in a school, mental health, or hospital setting preferred
Knowledge of child development concepts and practices
Must have a high school diploma or equivalent
Must possess a valid Arizona IVP Fingerprint Clearance card
Crisis Prevention Intervention certification (offered at the district)
First Aid and CPR training certification (offered at the district)
Duties and Responsibilities:
To work intensively with those students who have been unable to function effectively in the classroom and to immediately deal with individual student behavioral/emotional problems.
Communicates reality-based problem solving techniques to students.
Completes and maintains Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) certification.
Completes and maintains First Aid and CPR training certification.
Assists in developing and administering educational programs for behaviorally/emotionally and/or academically challenged students.
Assists teachers in the classroom by interacting with students who are disruptive, off task, or exhibiting other emotional needs, which are interfering with the student’s progress within the classroom.
Prepares or assists in the preparation of a variety of logs, reports, files, reviews, etc.
Escort children to the bus, time-out, the nurse’s office, and across campus.
Facilitate decision-making and communication between students and teachers.
Follows District Policies, procedures, and directives in a timely and appropriate manner.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Calendar: 10 Months; 40hrs/week
