Job Description:
Maintain a caseload of ESS student files following ADE guidelines in preparation for the yearly audit.
Work with school leadership to revise calendars and schedules as needed. Utilize alternative assessment methods and grading systems.
Actively participate and support all IEPs.
Train and maintain a team of paraprofessionals in both HS and MS.
Conduct 45-day screenings on new students and participate in student study teams to address concerns throughout the year as scheduled.
Utilize provided recordkeeping software to record IEP information. Update these records daily, weekly, or as directed during training sessions.
Experience with special education and legal mandates as required.
Ability to fully embrace and support the exclusively inclusive model.
Willingness to provide academic support to identified students.
Willingness to participate in classroom setting and co-teach as needed.
Familiarity with state and federal mandates, including IEP preparation/processes and IDEA requirements.
Experience or skills necessary to function as coordinator of special education.
Willingness to assist staff in differentiating instruction and providing accommodations in a fully inclusive setting.
Enter IEP student data into the school information system.
Schedule IEPs and METs with parents, teachers, and LEA/PEA.
Provide “Passports” (mini IEP) to teachers in compliance with IDEA law
Complete October 1 data with the School Registrar.
Complete Summary of Performance for 12th-grade students.
Conduct ADE Post-School Outcomes Survey (April - May)
Conduct Interviews for incoming ESS students
Conduct ADE Parent Survey (Jan-May)
Schedule and Secure related service providers
Quarterly Progress Reports
Establish effective classroom management and progress reporting structures that align with the Discovery Program and reporting systems.
Flexibility to adapt to change and transition as educational opportunities present themselves.
Willingness to operate a vehicle for student transportation (van or small bus).
Backcountry travel with LNT emphasis or willingness to participate and instruct.
Periodic overnight travel- with a variety of lodging/sleeping conditions.
Valid and current Arizona teaching certification and driver’s license (or ability to obtain before the start of school).
Preferred Attributes:
Experience at the high school level in an EL or similar program.
Competence in securing and coordinating special services as needed, including conducting eligibility assessments.
Understanding of the EL methodology and ways to support learners in this model.
