Position Summary:
Sentinel Elementary School District 71 is seeking a compassionate and skilled Special Education Teacher to join our team for the 2025-26 school year. This educator will play a crucial role in supporting students with diverse learning needs by providing individualized instruction and fostering an inclusive classroom environment. The ideal candidate will collaborate with staff, parents, and students to ensure every child reaches their full potential.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) tailored to meet each student's unique needs, strengths, and goals.
- Provide differentiated instruction in both individual and group settings to support student progress across academic, social, and behavioral domains.
- Use evidence-based teaching methods and interventions to address a wide range of learning disabilities and challenges.
- Collaborate with general education teachers, support staff, and administrators to create an inclusive and supportive learning environment.
- Regularly assess and document student progress, making adjustments to IEPs as necessary.
- Communicate effectively with parents and guardians to keep them informed about their child's progress and engage them in the educational process.
- Serve as an advocate for students with special needs, ensuring they receive appropriate accommodations and support services.
- Maintain compliance with federal and state laws, including the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) and other applicable regulations.
- Participate in professional development opportunities to stay updated on best practices and current trends in special education.
- Maintain accurate records and documentation as required by the school district and state regulations.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Special Education or a related field.
- Valid Arizona Special Education Teaching Certification.
- Knowledge of Arizona State Standards and IEP processes.
- Experience working with students with disabilities, including autism, learning disabilities, and emotional/behavioral challenges.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team.
- Patience, empathy, and a commitment to fostering a positive learning environment.
Work Schedule:
- Full-time, Monday through Friday, with additional hours for preparation, meetings, and events as needed.
