QUALIFICATIONS: Arizona School Psychologist (PreK–12) Certificate
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Administer intelligence cognitive ability assessments, achievement tests, assessments of perceptual and motor development, and instruments for personality assessment to individual students.
- Evaluate and interpret student data to make recommendations for appropriate services within the full range of regular and special education programs.
- Interpret individual test findings and recommendations to parents of students who are being considered for placement in special education programs.
- Consult with teachers, administrators, and other professionals on specific diagnostic findings concerning students, in an effort to maximize educational development through placement or educational management.
- Counsel students who are referred for psychological aspects of their educational problems.
- Consult with parents concerning students’ learning potentials, achievement levels, and personality adjustments, and recommend ways of helping the students and providing sources of further professional assistance.
- Make recommendations based on psychological findings in cases of exemption, retention, acceleration, and other placement situations.
- Prepare and submit needed reports as requested by the Principal or Director of Student Services.
- Share in the responsibility of reviewing incoming students’ records to ensure compliance.
- Attend multidisciplinary educational conferences as a representative of the LEA.
- Lead the school’s Child Study Team and child find process.
- Provide in-service training programs as requested by the Principal and/or Director of Student Services.
- Assist in monitoring the accuracy of the school’s special education census.
- Serve in a liaison capacity between the school and related agencies.
- Keep informed of new developments in school psychology, educational practice, and special education law.
- Continue to grow professionally through appropriate staff development.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
SALARY: $82,377 to $107,918 Ten-month position, psychologist salary schedule, and employee benefits in accordance with Board policies.
