 2025-2026 School Year 212 Contract Days - 8 hours per day Major medical, hospitalization, dental, income protection, term life, and professional growth plan                                        

Qualifications:                     

Degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited institution.
Occupational Therapy license from the State of Arizona.
Valid Arizona IVP Fingerprint Clearance card.
National Certification preferred.
General of pediatric clinical experience preferred. 
 

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
Assesses the functional performance of students with disabilities within the school environment, identifying, comparing, selecting, and administering appropriate interventions.
Interprets assessment results appropriately and uses the results to develop therapeutic intervention plans and classroom strategies appropriate to the educational goals for the student.  This may include adaptive equipment, assistive technology devices, and outside professional consultation.
Communicates effectively (both orally and in writing) with educational personnel, parents, and local and state agencies, regarding occupational therapy.
Engages in consensus decision-making as part of the IEP process in order to write appropriate IEP goals and objectives.
Plans and implements intervention strategies using a continuum of service delivery approaches in accordance with student needs in the least restrictive environment.
Evaluates, modifies, and documents the effectiveness of occupational therapy intervention as it relates to the student’s educational program.
Facilitates transition among agencies, programs, and professionals as service provision changes (early intervention to preschool, preschool to school age, and school to work).
Supervises a certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA).
 
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
Knowledge of major theories, treatment procedures, and research relevant to providing occupational therapy services for children with disabilities.
Knowledge of disabling conditions that occur before and after birth and their effects on students with special needs related to educational performance.
Knowledge of the educational system and its critical components including federal and state regulations and ethical/legal responsibilities applying to occupational therapists in the educational setting.
Ability to apply common sense understanding to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of situations.
Ability to deal effectively with matters of confidentiality.
Ability to work cooperatively and courteously with staff, students, parents and community members.
Knowledge of district procedures and Board policies.
Ability to handle confrontation and conflict without an emotional response.
Skills in time management.
