Job Description:
Position Summary: The School-Based Behavior Specialist will be responsible for providing comprehensive behavioral support to students, case managing students with behavioral needs, writing Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), conducting Functional Behavior Assessments (FBAs), developing Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs), and implementing behavior management strategies. The specialist will also be responsible for de-escalating behaviors, teaching social skills groups, and working collaboratively with teachers, staff, and parents to support student success.
Key Responsibilities:
- Case Management: Oversee and manage cases for students with behavioral needs, ensuring all documentation and plans are up-to-date and compliant with state and federal regulations.
- IEP Development: Write and update IEPs for students, outlining specific goals and strategies to address behavioral needs.
- Functional Behavior Assessments (FBAs): Conduct thorough FBAs to identify the causes and factors contributing to students' challenging behaviors.
- Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs): Develop and implement effective BIPs based on the findings of FBAs, tailored to meet individual student needs.
- Behavior Management: Utilize evidence-based behavior management techniques to de-escalate challenging behaviors and create a positive learning environment.
- Social Skills Instruction: Teach social skills groups to help students develop appropriate social interactions and coping strategies.
- Collaboration: Work closely with teachers, staff, parents, and other professionals to support students' behavioral and academic success.
- Data Collection and Analysis: Collect and analyze behavioral data to monitor progress and make data-driven decisions.
- Training and Support: Provide training and support to teachers and staff on behavior management strategies and best practices.
Qualifications:
- Certification: Must possess one of the following certifications:
- Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC)
- Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW)
- Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA)
- Special Education Teacher certification
- Experience: Prior experience in a school setting, working with students with behavioral needs, and conducting FBAs and developing BIPs is preferred.
- Skills: Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills. Ability to work collaboratively and build positive relationships with students, staff, and parents.
- Knowledge: Familiarity with special education laws and regulations, evidence-based behavior management strategies, and social skills instruction.

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: From $52,500.00 per year (DOE)
