Job Description:

Reports To: Special Education Director or Supervisor/Principal

Position Summary: We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Special Education Teacher to join our team. The ideal candidate will provide individualized instruction and support to students with diverse learning needs while fostering a positive and inclusive classroom environment. This role involves case managing students, developing and implementing Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), and teaching core subjects, including reading, writing, math, and organizational skills.

Key Responsibilities:

Case Management:

  • Oversee and manage the caseload of students with special education needs, ensuring all documentation is accurate and up to date.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for families and collaborate with parents, teachers, and support staff to address student needs.

IEP Development and Implementation:

  • Develop, write, and implement IEPs tailored to individual student goals and needs.
  • Monitor and report on student progress toward IEP goals.
  • Facilitate IEP meetings and ensure compliance with federal and state regulations.

Instructional Support:

  • Provide direct instruction in reading, writing, and math, adapting methods and materials to meet the needs of diverse learners.
  • Teach organizational and study skills to support student independence and success.
  • Use evidence-based teaching strategies and differentiated instruction to accommodate a variety of learning styles.

Collaboration and Communication:

  • Work closely with general education teachers, support staff, and related service providers to create a cohesive approach to student learning.
  • Communicate regularly with parents/guardians to provide updates on student progress and address concerns.

Data Collection and Assessment:

  • Assess student progress through formal and informal assessments.
  • Collect and analyze data to inform instructional decisions and evaluate the effectiveness of interventions.

Qualifications:

  • Certification: Must possess a valid Arizona Special Education Teacher certification.
  • Education: A bachelor's degree in Special Education or a related field (master’s degree preferred).
  • Experience: Experience working with students with diverse learning needs, including those with IEPs.
  • Skills:
    • Strong organizational and communication skills.
    • Ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, and families.
    • Proficiency in creating and implementing instructional strategies tailored to individual needs.
