Elementary Teacher Position Description

Summary:

As an elementary school teacher, you have the opportunity to set the tone for learning for the rest of a student’s life. When students have a good, educational, happy experience during elementary school, they are more prepared to take on the challenges of middle school, high school and college. You are able to teach students to love learning and also how to overcome the challenges and obstacles they face that keep them from reaching their goals. While adhering to the core curriculum required by the state, you are able to find creative, engaging ways to teach students real-life application of difficult concepts like literature, math and science.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging lesson plans that align with the Arizona State Standards.
  • Implement differentiated instruction to meet the diverse learning needs of all students.
  • Create a classroom environment that is conducive to learning, promoting respect, collaboration, and student engagement.
  • Assess student progress regularly and provide feedback to students and parents/guardians.
  • Utilize a variety of instructional materials and resources to enhance student learning.
  • Foster positive relationships with students, parents, and colleagues to ensure effective communication and collaboration.
  • Maintain accurate records of student performance, attendance, and behavior.
  • Participate in faculty meetings, professional development sessions, and school-related committees as required.
  • Collaborate with support staff, counselors, and administrators to ensure students' needs are met.
  • Create and maintain a safe and inclusive classroom environment that encourages student participation and achievement.

 

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Attend school events and extracurricular activities, including but not limited to parent-teacher conferences, school performances, and special activities.
  • Some dates and times outside regular school hours will be required to participate in special events, meetings, and other school-related activities.
  • Participate in staff development opportunities and continuing education to improve teaching skills and stay updated on educational best practices.

 

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Education or a related field.
  • Valid Arizona teaching certification (Elementary Education).
  • Strong communication, organizational, and time-management skills.
  • Experience in working with elementary-aged children.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Passion for education and a commitment to supporting the growth and development of young learners.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Education or a related field.
  • Experience with using technology in the classroom (e.g., interactive whiteboards, educational software, learning management systems).
  • Bilingual (Spanish/English) is a plus.
  • Familiarity with differentiated instruction strategies and positive behavior intervention techniques.
  • Strong classroom management skills and experience working with students with diverse learning needs.
  • Experience with or knowledge of the Arizona State Standards and curriculum.
  • Participation in school or district committees, extracurricular activities, or community outreach efforts.
  • National Board Certification or other advanced teaching certifications.
