Job Description:
Tanque Verde USD is seeking a part-time, 20 hour per week Maintenance Coordinator.
The Maintenance Coordinator will oversee and coordinate maintenance activities at the site level. This individual will work closely with school administrators and staff to ensure that school buildings and grounds are safe, functional, and well-maintained. The Maintenance Coordinator will be responsible for performing various maintenance and repair duties within the school premises, including but not limited to plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and HVAC work. The role will involve maintenance tasks, repairs, and renovations to ensure the smooth operation of the school facilities.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Conduct daily inspections of school buildings, grounds, and equipment to identify and address maintenance issues promptly.
- Perform preventive maintenance tasks on heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems, electrical systems, plumbing systems, and other equipment as required.
- Repair and maintain building structures, including walls, roofs, floors, and ceilings.
- Install, repair and maintain plumbing fixtures, water lines, and drainage systems.
- Install and maintain electrical wiring, switches, and lighting fixtures.
- Repair and replace broken windows, doors, locks, and hinges.
- Operate and maintain various types of equipment, such as lawn mowers, snow blowers, and power tools.
- Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations and maintain accurate records of maintenance activities.
- Assist with building renovations, additions, and other construction projects as needed.
- Responds to and executes required service for repair work orders.
- Maintains proper communication with the Supervisor and/or Principal.
- Assists with maintaining appropriate preventive maintenance protocol for school equipment, building, and other facility related items.
- Ensures that all safety practices are followed.
- Responds to inquiries and concerns in a timely manner.
- Keeps supervisor informed of potential problems or unusual events.
- Maintains confidentiality regarding school / workplace matters.
- Demonstrates support of the school system and its goals and priorities
- May participate in cleaning activities.
- Vacuums, spot cleans and/or shampoos rugs, carpets, and furniture using commercial vacuum cleaners and shampooing equipment.
- Arranges furniture and equipment for the purpose of providing adequate preparations for meetings, classroom activities and special events
- Stocks area with appropriate supplies.
- Locks and unlocks doors as directed, secures rooms upon completion of work.
- Moves furniture, equipment or fixtures as required.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Knowledge of building maintenance and repair techniques and procedures, including HVAC systems, plumbing, electrical, and other mechanical systems.
- Familiarity with relevant regulations and codes related to building maintenance and safety.
- Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with school administrators, staff, contractors, and vendors.
- Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify and resolve maintenance issues in a timely and efficient manner.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise good judgment in handling sensitive information.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Ability to maintain composure and to manage stressful situations.
- Ability to adapt to changing needs and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Basic skills with computers and mobile devices.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Must be able to pass a fingerprint clearance
- Experience in building maintenance or a related field
- Any equivalent combination of training, education or experience that meets the minimum qualifications and state certification requirements will be accepted.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods of time.
- Ability to lift and carry heavy objects up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to work in confined spaces and at heights above ground level.
- Ability to work in adverse weather conditions.
This position may require some evening or weekend work depending on the needs of the site.
Starting pay is $16.50 per hour.
