ASA’s mission is to inspire creative thinkers and leaders through providing an innovative concentration in college preparation informed by the performing arts.
Arizona School for the Arts is a unique gem among Arizona schools. We are a 5th through 12th grade non-profit public charter school providing a unique curriculum that interweaves academics and performing arts -- music, theatre, and dance. Our students flourish in an environment infused with academic engagement and creative growth that builds confidence, critical thinking, and strong relationships among our students. Our dual focus on college preparation and artistic growth makes ASA a school like no other.
We are currently accepting faculty applications for the 2025-2026 school year! All applications will be reviewed and you will be contacted for an interview should your skills and qualifications match an open teaching position in our community. Performing arts teachers employed by ASA include Band, Choir, Guitar, Strings, Piano, and Theatre; all dance instructors are employed by the School of Ballet Arizona. Interviews can commence as early as February and be ongoing until all positions are filled.
Arts faculty members design, plan, and implement a challenging and relevant curriculum that focuses on the specific pedagogy needed for success in their performing art and may instruct both middle and high school students who are divided into classes based on ability; class sizes can vary based on these distinctions. The teacher must be experienced in providing feedback to help students develop their creative and performance skills. Curriculum can include the skills of rehearsal etiquette, pedagogy, and theory as applicable for the content of the class.
Arts teachers have 2.5 hours of prep time for curriculum planning, meeting, integrating, and assessing. Teachers are responsible for collaborating with their department on curriculum to align with the national and state performing arts standards.. They are also asked to differentiate their curriculum using additional resources as needed to support student growth and achievement. All arts teachers work closely with their department to collaborate on all performing events, department retreats, sectionals, and overall curricular continuity. ASA also provides an interactive professional development program for employee support and growth.
