Job Description:
Responsible for directing and managing a District-wide academic function or program such
as curriculum and instruction, or a District level initiative that impacts student/academic
achievement.
DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS
This is an advanced leadership classification in the District’s administration responsible for
directing and overseeing professional development for administrators and staff; directing
program evaluation activities and identifies instructional problems or needs; convening
meetings and facilitating communications; overseeing budgets; collaborating with external
stakeholders; representing the District; making recommendations for improvements and
ensuring achievement of District vision and goals.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
The following are intended to describe core work functions of this classification. While the level and broad nature of essential duties may not change, specific work tasks will vary over time depending on the District’s needs.
* In-person attendance is an essential function of this classification.
• Assures quality implementation of a rigorous Prekindergarten literacy program.
• Provides and/or facilitate professional development in literacy for all staff.
• In conjunction with the Principal, supervises the PPT process and IEP development for the
District’s preschool students. Implements programs and processes to meet specific needs
of the students.
• Oversees the development and delivery of curriculum and instructional programs that
incorporate district goals and support student achievement.
• Monitor and reevaluate instructional programs on an ongoing basis using input from
teachers and principals, applied research, and student data to determine effectiveness
and improve outcomes. Recommend changes and adjustments where appropriate.
• Coordinate the review, development, and revision of all subject area programs and
related curriculum documents and materials, including curriculum guides, course outlines,
and teaching plans.
• Collaborate with instructional leaders to development, design, and select measurement
instruments to assess the effectiveness of instructional programs and pilot projects.
• Analyze, compile, and interpret student test data to identify trends and opportunities.
Ensure that campus instructional staff receive timely data in a clear and usable format to
enable them to effectively develop student achievement goals and objectives.
• Oversee staff development programs and provide effective activities that support
instructional programs.
• Works to create a developmentally appropriate learning environment for all students.
• Provides professional learning opportunities for all staff in developmentally appropriate
practices for three and four-year-old students. Provides leadership in appropriately
implementing standards-based instruction in all areas of learning.
• Participates in the recruitment of staff.
• Conducts classroom observations, staff meetings and prepare written evaluation reports;
• Works collaboratively with Special Education Supervisors and related service providers to
create programming that allows students to be appropriately supported.
• With the Principal, oversees and supports the student evaluation team to accurately and
appropriately assess student needs and make placements.
• Stays abreast of current research and best practices that will support the continual
improvement of the educational program for all students.
• Develops and creates optimal conditions for Teacher Teams to meet and work to support
improved student outcomes and teacher practices.
• Provides oversight and administration applicable assessment system(s).
• Develops and support the progress monitoring of all students and assure quality
implementation of applicable programs.
• Serves as a liaison to referring agencies and outside providers.
• Facilitates parent conferences and special meetings between parents and teachers.
• Meets with the Principal regularly to provide updates on student and staff progress.
• Participates in essential school-based teams, including SGC, ILT, Student Progress and
Intervention Team, and other teams as assigned by the Principal.
• Performs related work as assigned.

Education and Experience:
Master's degree in Education plus a minimum of three years classroom teaching experience; or an equivalent combination of directly related education and experience.
Required Certifications/Licenses:
• Valid Arizona Teaching Certificate with Administrative Certificate preferred.
• Valid Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card (FPCC).
