Job Description:

POSITION SUMMARY:

 

To promote, support and develop a quality athletic program which fosters the best aspects of spirited competition for the Wickenburg Unified School District.

 

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

·         Confirms eligibility of student athletes;

·         Coordinates practice schedules;

·         Schedules all home and away athletic events and posts game schedules to school web-site;

·         Schedules team transportation;

·         Arranges for game officials, crowd supervision and game workers;

·         Attends athletic events as supervisor and director in charge of events;

·         Develops and manages the athletic budget;

·         Recommends equipment and athletic supply needs;

·         Develops, implements and administers procedures for ticket and concession sales, accountable to Arizona law and policies and procedures in the district; maintains accountability for all receipts;

·         Supervises Pom-Pom and Cheer squad sponsors;

·         Recommends coaching assignments to the principal;

·         Trains coaches in appropriate procedures;

·         Evaluates coaches performance annually with the principal;

·         Develops improvement plans annually for the coaches together with the principal;

·         Complies with all rules, regulations and policies of the Governing Board.

·         Serves as the Title IX Coordinator

·         Other job related duties as assigned.

 

MARGINAL DUTIES:

·         Acts as liaison to the A.I.A.;

·         Represents the school at athletic directors’ meetings;

·         Other job related duties as assigned by supervisor;

·         Assists other personnel as may be required for the purpose of supporting them in the completion of their work activities.

 

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES AND REGISTRATION:

  • Valid and Proper Arizona Certification

 

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

·         Minimum of Master’s Degree in Education;

·         Previous teaching and coaching experience;

·         Must be a current high school administrator.

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

  • Computer Skills – Demonstrated competency in computer applications such as Word, Excel, Outlook, and typing.
  • Communication Skills – Ability to read and interpret general documents such as employee handbooks and safety/training manuals.  Ability to write general correspondence and speak effectively with others.
  • Math Ability – Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals.
  • Reasoning Ability – Ability to interpret assortment of instructions furnished in variable forms.  Ability to apply reason to research and solve moderately complex issues with little or no assistance.
  • Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.

 

  • Physical Demands:  While performing the duties of this job, employee is frequently required to sit, talk, and hear.  The employee occasionally will stand and walk.  The employee is occasionally required to reach with hands and arms.  Employee will frequently interact with the public and other staff members.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision.
