Job Description:

Principal Objectives/Purpose

The ACYR team builds pathways to success through education, skill building and employment opportunities to help youth and young adults reach self-sufficiency. The team plays a crucial role in promoting a culture of positivity, growth mindset, and hospitality by offering high-energy educational activities and services that create a welcoming environment. Every member of the team is charged to build relationships and trust with youth and young adults to maintain relationships that foster them continuing in their planned services. Our team also serves as an integral component with connecting to our community and spreading/demonstrating the mission of ACYR.

The Social Support Manager serves as a vital member of the educational/organizational team, supporting students, families, and staff through the lens of trauma-informed care. This position focuses on fostering a safe, inclusive, and supportive environment by identifying and addressing the social, emotional, behavioural, and environmental challenges that impact student success. The Manager has deep knowledge of trauma's impact on development and learning and will integrate this understanding into all aspects of their practice. The position oversees staff development, student support services, budget administration, and compliance with state and federal regulations while prioritizing the social-emotional needs of students and staff.

Required Qualifications

  • A Bachelor's degree in Social Work and 1-2 years experience in direct service working with children and families preferably with populations impacted by trauma.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and exemplify leadership and composure under pressure, while maintaining high morale.
  • Excellent leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Strong knowledge of trauma-informed principles, child development, and systematic issues affecting youth (e.g. poverty, racism, displacement).
  • Ability to build trusting relationships with students, families and staff.
  • Commitment to the mission and values of Arizona Center for Youth Resources and City View High School.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • A Master's Degree with a major in Social Work and 2 years of work experience since receiving Master's Degree.
  • Ability to supervise Social Work students.
  • Training in evidence-based trauma interventions.
  • Familiarity with school-based mental health practices and systems of support.
  • Bi-lingual/bi-cultural.

Certification/Licenses/Other Requirements

Valid Arizona IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card. Valid Arizona Driver's License. Requires use of insured personal vehicle for agency business.

Physical Demands

Requires energetic interactions between the ACYR team members and students. Expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word to impart oral information to clients or the public and to convey detailed spoken instructions to others accurately, loudly, or quickly. Ability to interact with students during activities also required.
