GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES: FLSA: Exempt
Supports District schools and principals in their effort to foster an optimal educational environment for students. The Sports Medicine teacher is responsible for providing educational experiences for students that wish to pursue careers within sports medicine and rehabilitation sciences as well as other allied health professions. Within the two-year Sports Medicine program, emphasis will be placed on the anatomy and physiology of the muscular, skeletal, and nervous systems and their interaction in human movement and athletic performance. Through lecture coursework and hands-on skill practice, students will learn the signs and symptoms of injuries, illnesses, and disorders commonly seen in the physically active population. Students will have a strong understanding of appropriate medical terminology and documentation techniques. The teacher will lead the Career and Technical Student Organization, HOSA (Future Health Professionals) for students to develop leadership, social, civic and career skills.
MAJOR TASKS:
The job of Teacher - Career & Technical Education is done for the purposes of providing support to the instructional process by serving as a career and/or technical skills teacher with specific responsibility for instruction that prepares students to enter the workforce and/or purse continuing education; providing opportunities for authentic outcomes; supervising students within the classroom and other assigned areas; developing lesson plans and delivering group and individual student instruction within established curriculum guidelines; collaborating with other teachers, other professional staff, and administrators in addressing instructional and/or classroom issues; and responding to a wide range of inquiries from students' parents or guardians regarding instructional program and student progress.

Computer Skills – Demonstrated competency in computer applications such as Word, Excel, Outlook, and typing.
Communication Skills – Ability to read and interpret general documents such as employee handbooks and safety/training manuals. Ability to write general correspondence and speak effectively with others.
Math Ability – Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals.
Reasoning Ability – Ability to interpret assortment of instructions furnished in variable forms. Ability to apply reason to research and solve moderately complex issues with little or no assistance.

QUALIFICATIONS:
The Sports Medicine Teacher will need to hold one of the following list Arizona Department of Education CTE Certifications.
