Work Year:        11 months’                                                              Salary: Range: $56,500 - $72,880

Qualifications

  • Valid Arizona Teaching Certificate.
  • Possess or ability to secure an IVP Fingerprint Card.
  • Master’s degree in education. Master’s Degree in Curriculum & Instruction preferred.
  • Three (3) years successful experience as a classroom teacher.
  • First Aid/CPR certified.
  • Valid Arizona Driver’s License.
  • Well versed in Navajo tradition and culture.
  • Effective written and oral communication.
  • Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.

Skills Needed

  • Strong knowledge of curriculum standards, instructional strategies, and assessment practices.
  • Strong knowledge of PK-12 instruction and skillful application of research-based strategies to provide access to content for all students.
  • Experience in assessing skills and knowledge, using a variety of formal and informal assessment tools, and using data for instructional decision-making.
  • Interpersonal, problem solving, and organizational skills needed to facilitate coaching and staff development effectively.
  • Ability to design (individually and in collaboration with others) high-quality professional development for teachers/school staff.
  • Experience in planning, implementing and reflecting on school improvement initiatives in order to increase student achievement.
  • Ability to support educators at all phases of their careers from novice to veteran through targeted interventions.
  • Knowledge and skills incorporating effective technology to accelerate teaching and learning.
  • Excellent communication, coaching, and collaboration skills

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • The Instructional Coach serves as a professional development specialist focused on instruction, curriculum, and technology use, and integration. Provides day-to-day support to staff members about curriculum and related technology implementation. Provides individual and group instruction in software systems to teachers, staff, and administrators. Ensures efficient and effective access to information and related technology to all campus and related departments.
  • Works to enhance instructional practices throughout the District.
  • Works to raise the level of the student academic achievement throughout the District.
  • Lead, support, and monitor digital learning initiatives for students K-12.
  • Provides support in designing, developing, coordinating, and furthering instructional technology throughout the district.
  • Facilitate staff participation in the evaluation and selections of new textbooks, instructional software programs, and materials to support instructional goals.
  • Work cooperatively with District office personnel, administrators, staff, and the IT Techs.
  • Establish trust and rapport to support constructive interaction with all individuals/groups.
  • Facilitate the integration of instructional skills, assessment, curriculum, and technology in the classroom.
  • Facilitate Professional Learning Communities (PLCs) to promote a collaborative culture.
  • Provide professional development to support school and district goals that are aligned with the District’s strategic action plan.
  • Participate in continuous professional development to enhance the ability to support student achievement.
  • Prepare for and host teacher induction and professional development (requires after school and summer commitment).

Curriculum Support

  • Assists in developing and integrating curriculum materials and resources that align with literacy goals and standards.
  • Collaborates with school leadership to align literacy goals with overall school improvement plans.
  • Assists in the evaluation and selection of instructional materials and resources that support effective literacy instruction that align with Dstrict’s goals.
  • Meet the diverse needs of all students including English Language Learners and students with special needs.

Assessment Support

  • Facilitates data meetings with teachers to review assessment results, set goals, and plan targeted interventions for students including interpretation of standardized test results.
  • Help teachers in developing and using formative and summative assessments to check student progress and adjust instruction accordingly.
  • Effectively plan and model learning standards and strategies in the classroom in both a group and individual setting.
  • Conduct classroom observations to identify areas for improvement and provide targeted coaching to teachers.
