Job Description:

JOB CLASSIFICATION SUMMARY
Responsible for serving as the assistant level of leadership in management and oversight of a school facility, providing management support to the Principal in the work of school
governance and leadership.

DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS
This is a leadership classification in a school’s administration responsible for evaluating and
resolving disciplinary issues; evaluating teacher and staff performance; performing crisis
intervention; facilitating student achievement; managing assigned area such as athletics,
curriculum, student achievement; collaborating with stakeholders; monitoring reporting and
assessment processes; assisting with development and management of budget; overseeing
the conduct of performance evaluations, training and hiring, discipline and termination
procedures, as well as directly supervising management, professional, paraprofessional and
support staff.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES
The following are intended to describe core work functions of this classification. While the level and broad nature of essential duties may not change, specific work tasks will vary over time depending on the District’s needs.

* In-person attendance is an essential function of this classification.

• Assists students to succeed with academic, interpersonal and behavioral needs and goals;

• Assists in the interpretation of school and District programs, policies and procedures to
students, parents, staff and community;

• Assists the principal in the reporting and monitoring of student attendance;

• Implements the District’s rules and regulations for violation of the school discipline code,
Collect, record, evaluate and report data on student disruption to the school staff and
District Office;

• Works with referred students for the purpose of modifying inappropriate behavior;

• Participates in the coordination, implementation and supervision of extra-curricular and cocurricular programs at the school;

• Conducts group and/or individual counseling sessions with students referred by staff
members, administration and parents;

• Implements effective home, school and community relations on behalf of students;

• Conducts re-entry conferences with students who have been absent from school for
extended periods;

• Assists the school staff in the development and implementation of school-wide and
classroom management strategies to effective desired behavior change;

• Communicates with community and government agencies concerning the needs of the
students: i.e., drug abuse, truancy, counseling, and social services, etc.;

• Assists the instructional staff in the implementation of student assessment programs;

• Implements effective home-school and community relations on behalf of students;

• Performs other tasks and assumes additional responsibilities as assigned by the principal;

• Performs related work as assigned.

Education and Experience:
Master's degree in education, educational leadership or related field and five years of
experience; or an equivalent combination of directly-related education and experience.

Required Certifications/Licenses:
• Valid Arizona Administrative Certificate.
• Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card (FPCC).
