TITLE: DISTRICT ATHLETIC DIRECTOR
DEPARTMENT: School
QUALIFICATIONS:
Possess a Master’s degree (or higher) in a related area or have five (5) years of experience as an Athletic Director.
Possess a valid Arizona Teaching Certificate.
Minimum of three (3) years of successful teaching AND minimum of three (3) years coaching experience is required.
Possess or have the ability to obtain a valid Arizona Identity Verified Prints (IVP) Fingerprint Clearance Card within forty-five (45) days of employment.
Experience in Arizona Interscholastic Association (AIA) procedures and athletic programs is preferred.
Must currently possess (or have the ability to obtain upon hire) CPR, AED and First Aid certifications. First Aid and CPR Trainer certification is preferred.
JOB GOALS:
The District Athletic Director establishes effective leadership in the hiring of all coaching staff, which results in effective programs of high quality. The District Athletic Director implements procedures that ensure fair treatment of students in the implementation of athletic policies resulting in a positive school environment.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
The following tasks are essential for this position. This list is not inclusive of all responsibilities. Individuals may not perform all of these tasks, or may perform similar related tasks not listed.
Complies with all HIPAA and FERPA related confidentiality requirements.
Develops positive relations with students, parents, school staff and the public.
Establishes effective leadership in student athletics and their relationship with the overall school community, which results in effective programs of high quality.
Provides leadership for effective planning and organization of student athletics.
Implements procedures that ensure fair treatment of students in the implementation of athletic policies resulting in a positive school environment. Supervises athletic events for each team to monitor compliance with rules and regulations.
Selects and evaluates staff for student athletics.
Meets with coaches on a regular basis to review expectations and protocols and discuss any concerns.
Monitors the use and condition of athletic facilities to assure a clean, orderly, well maintained and safe environment. This includes restrooms and parking lots.
Supervises students and crowds for athletic competitions.
Administers athletics budgets.
Administers and prepares the athletic calendar, available online as well as published access.
Monitors all student athletic budgets; coordinates and ensures compliance with USFR accounting procedures; works with the Business Services department and coaches to ensure compliance with accounting and procurement requirements.
Provides leadership regarding student eligibility.
Monitor and maintain inventory control over all athletic equipment and hold coaches accountable for maintaining athletic equipment.
Promotes and facilitates the personal/professional growth of coaches and activity sponsors.
Implements Board policies and administrative rules and regulations relating to the school.
Administers discipline in compliance with school and district policies and regulations.
Manages and supervises duties related to all athletic events.
Completes all (middle and high school) Head Coaching Performance Evaluations and turns them into the Human Resources department by appropriate and expected deadlines.
Responsible for making sure all assistant coaching evaluations are completed and turned into the Human Resources department by appropriate and expected deadlines.
Responsible for coordinating all athletics special events, ie: Homecoming, Hall of Fame, etc.
Works with the Human Resources department for all athletics related employment.
Performs other related duties as assigned.

Developing and evaluating school programs.
Promoting positive public relations.

REPORTS TO: High School and Middle School Principals
EVALUATION: Performance of this job will be evaluated annually by the Principals in accordance with the provisions of Governing Board policy in evaluation of administrative personnel.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: 12 Months
SALARY: The salary for the position is set according to the Administrative Salary Schedule determined by the Governing Board.
