Job Description:
DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS
This is a supervisory, skilled trades classification responsible for overseeing maintenance
contracts/projects; maintaining inventory of custodial equipment and supplies; assigning work and maintaining custodian schedules. Responsible for supervising custodial operations at school sites and performing maintenance and minor repairs on buildings and/or grounds.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
The following are intended to describe core work functions of this classification. While the level and broad nature of essential duties may not change, specific work tasks will vary over time depending on the District’s needs.
* In-person attendance is an essential function of this classification.
• Oversees contracts to completion of project;
• Instructs custodians and other assigned staff verbally and in writing regarding routine
preventive maintenance activities on buildings;
• Supervises assigned staff and participates in related activities such as scheduling,
discipline, etc.
• Maintains inventory of custodial/maintenance supplies and equipment;
• Cleans all school areas and equipment in the building including kitchen/cafeteria building;
• Performs ongoing preventive and emergency maintenance and minor repairs on all
building systems, custodial equipment, playground equipment and building structures;
• Performs a variety of repairs on but not limited to electrical, plumbing, HVAC, carpentry,
locks and painting maintenance;
• Maintains grounds, equipment, bleachers, parking lots and sidewalks;
• Performs normal operator adjustments, service and replacement to facility equipment such as but not limited to, unit ventilators and fans;
• Maintains records on operational and maintenance activities and prepares various reports
as directed;
• Maintains sprinkler and or irrigation systems;
• May be required to assist in Food Service Department; and,
• Performs related work as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE
• Methods, tools, and materials of the painting and carpentry trades.
• Related structural occupations engaged in building repairs and alterations.
SKILLS
• Supervising crews of skilled and semi-skilled workers.
• Interpreting blueprints and specifications.
• Maintaining records.
• Utilizing communication and interpersonal skills as applied to interaction with coworkers,
supervisors, the general public and others to sufficiently exchange or convey information
and to receive work direction.
Education and Experience:
High school diploma or GED and five years of experience; or an equivalent combination of
directly-related education and experience.
Required Certifications/Licenses:
• Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card (FPCC).
• Valid Arizona Class D Driver's License.
