Salary Range:
$48,000.00 - $58,500.00 USD annually.

The Nutrition and Compliance Assistant will oversee all aspects of the Child Nutrition Program (CNP) operation and support the compliance department. The job functions include administering, planning, directing, assessing, and implementing the program in order to meet the nutritional and educational needs of children, as they relate to the CNP. The Nutrition and Compliance Assistant will partner with other departments in the school and community to solicit support for the development of a sound nutrition assistance food program and compliance requirements. The Nutrition and Compliance Assistant will also assist other departments to ensure compliance needs are meeting local, state and federal laws. This is a hybrid role that requires a physical presence on ASU Preparatory campuses 2-3 times a week.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor's degree preferred.
1-2 years of experience in food service or other related fields.
1 year of experience in business operations and/or management, preferred.
Active AZ Food Handlers Card, preferred.
Active AZ Department of Public Safety (DPS) IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card.
Any equivalent combination of experience, training and/or education from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities may be considered.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Ensure a customer service driven philosophy that focuses on value and satisfaction..
Implement procedures and policies for risk management.
Ensures CNP compliance with all local, state, and federal laws, regulations, and policies.
Maintain short- and long-term goals through strategic planning for the school food service program and compliance department that supports the philosophy and policies of the ASU Preparatory Academy.
Review current research information to determine health and nutrition-related trends for potential expansions based on this information.
Conduct regular site walkthroughs to determine equipment needs and specifications consistent with program needs and budget, including efficiency of workflow to ensure high quality customer service.
Communicate information about the CNP to ASU Preparatory Academy administration, faculty, students, parents, and community.
Understand Student Management Systems (SMS) to be able to input and extract data.
Train staff to use the POS system and the SMS through in-person and virtual training opportunities.
Ensure the food service vendors provide safe nutritious food of high quality and meets all health and safety requirements.
Conduct regular, in-person school site visits to ensure that food service vendors are producing quality food for students and meeting all expectations.
Monitor and maintain all mandatory training and records to meet local, state, and federal regulations and policies.
Follow standards for receiving, storing, and inventorying food and non-food supplies based on management.
Follow purchasing guidelines.
Collaborates with teachers, staff, food service management company, and outside sources to implement a nutrition education program using the school cafeteria as a learning laboratory.
Monitor and maintain all mandatory training and records to meet local, state, and federal requirements.
Oversee compliance with health, hazard and safety codes at all immersion sites.
Support operations compliance to meet local, state and federal policies and regulations.
Support in contract management and other compliance related tasks.
Understand and enforce confidentiality regarding staff and student records.
Additional duties may be assigned as necessary.

Ability to maintain confidentiality.
Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, with coworkers, parents, and the general public.
Knowledge in Child Nutrition Program (CNP) including compliance with all local, state, and federal laws, regulations, and policies.
Knowledge of sanitation, food safety and employee safety laws, regulations, and policies.
Ability to perform and direct job-related proficiency with the highest ethical integrity.
Ability to perform and direct with a commitment to promote a quality CNP that meets the nutritional needs of the customers served.
Ability to perform and direct with an overall nature that is committed to the goals and visions of ASU Preparatory Academy.
Skills in computer programs, word processing, office equipment and basic clerical skills.
Excellent customer service skills.

Travel is required for site visits, meetings, trainings and/or conferences. Locations may vary and may require overnight stays.
