Overview

The Director of Marketing is responsible for driving strategic enrollment, lead generation, and brand growth across all marketing channels. This role blends data-driven performance marketing with creative, community-centric storytelling to accelerate awareness, inquiries, applications, and conversions. The Director oversees full-funnel initiatives-including paid media, lifecycle marketing, analytics, and marketing automation-while leading a high-performing team and partnering closely with school, regional, and executive leaders.

Key Responsibilities

Growth Strategy & Leadership

  • Develop and execute a comprehensive growth marketing strategy focused on awareness, lead generation, application volume, and conversion optimization.

  • Build and manage annual growth plans for enrollment cycles, events, and campaigns.

  • Forecast performance, set KPIs, and communicate results.

  • Lead and mentor a team across digital and analytics functions.

Paid Media & Performance Marketing

  • Oversee all paid search, paid social, programmatic display, retargeting, and outdoor/digital advertising initiatives.

  • Optimize budget allocation across channels to maximize ROI and lower CPA.

  • Run rapid testing cycles (A/B tests, creative iteration, landing page optimization).

  • Manage agency relationships and internal resources as needed.

Data, Analytics & Optimization

  • Build dashboards and reporting to track funnel performance, channel attribution, and campaign impact.

  • Use insights to guide creative decisions, channel strategy, and budget reallocation.

  • Analyze all touchpoints-including website, paid media, email/SMS, content, and on-campus events-to identify friction points and opportunities for growth.

Website & Conversion Optimization

  • Oversee website performance with a focus on SEO, UX, conversion rates, and key user pathways.

  • Partner with content/web teams to implement testing (CRO, landing pages, site architecture).

  • Develop resource hubs and digital experiences that drive inquiries and applications.

Qualifications

  • 7+ years of experience in marketing, growth marketing, or performance marketing roles.

  • Proven experience managing paid media, demand generation, and marketing automation.

  • Strong analytical skills, including comfort with dashboards, data modeling, and attribution.

  • Hands-on experience with CRM and marketing tools (e.g., HubSpot, SchoolMint, Salesforce, Marketo).

  • Experience leading teams and managing agencies or contractors.

  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment.

  • Exceptional communication, project management, and cross-functional collaboration skills.

Preferred Experience

  • Experience in education, charter schools, or related industry preferred.

  • Prior work scaling enrollment, admissions, revenue, or user acquisition programs.

  • Experience with localized marketing in multiple cities/regions.
