POSITION: PAYROLL ANALYST, DISTRICT ADMINISTRATION CENTER
Hourly Rate: $21.92 to $26.30 (Full Time/12 month)

Summary:
Performs a variety of duties in the processing of payroll for the organization. Requires critical thinking in researching and analyzing data to ensure accuracy and compliance. Duties include: completing and reviewing employees biweekly pay; responding to employee and supervisor questions and resolving routine issues; performing data input; preparing required reports; and maintaining related records.
Essential Functions:
- Assists in the preparation of various reports (e.g. bank reconciliation, state and federal quarterly taxes) for the purpose of providing written support and/or conveying information to district personnel, local, county, state and/or federal agencies
- Applies Federal and State tax laws to ensure compliance in withholding, payment, and reporting of payroll taxes withheld and voluntary deductions. Reconciles and submits reports and payments to governing agencies as determined to avoid penalties.
- Maintains payroll-related records (e.g. employee pay classi?cation, dependent status, available sick leave, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring the timely and accurate compensation of District employees.
- Responds to inquiries for the purpose of providing information or direction to appropriate source. Creates/implements queries and processes a variety of reports (e.g. deductions, retired employees, court order adjustments, subpoena of payroll records, etc.) to ensure timely and accurate compliance of requests
- Serves as a back up for the purpose of ensuring timely and accurate payroll processing in the absence of the Payroll Manager.
- Researches, analyzes, and responds to inquiries from District employees. Responds to outside entities regarding payroll issues, procedures and District policies. Notifies District employees regarding changes to their salary, paychecks, or payroll procedures, as assigned.
- Acts as the payroll records administrator ensuring proper compliance with the various federal, state and local laws affecting the maintenance and retention of all payroll related records.
- Researches and submits employee histories for salary verification requests from various institutions.
- Attends seminars and meetings to keep updated on payroll procedures and shares learned information with payroll staff. Assists with presenting payroll procedures to District staff.
- Collaborates with other district staff in identifying needs and resolving problems regardingsoftware systems that integrate with the payroll system, payroll expenditures, encumbrances, and payroll policies and procedures.
- Perform pre- and post-payroll audit functions.
- Assists other personnel as may be required for the purpose of supporting them in thecompletion of their work activities
- Reviews court orders to establish Child Support deductions, and maintains appropriate records of such. Reports garnishment names and check amounts to the Maricopa County for verification or refusal. Submits verified checks to County in accordance with scheduled deadlines.

Required Qualifications:
To be eligible for this position, an applicant must meet the following required qualifications. Verification of these required qualifications is necessary.
- High School diploma or equivalent (G.E.D.) prior to being hired.
- Two (2) years of related experience in the management and analysis of data, payroll transactions and payroll laws.
Preferred Qualifications:
It is preferred that applicant possesses the following preferred qualifications; however, the following qualifications are not required to be eligible for this position.
- Five (5) years of related experience in the management and analysis of data, payroll transactions and payroll laws.
- Experience with School ERP Pro and TimeClock Plus
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field.
