Franklin School is a K-8 charter school located in Prescott Valley, Arizona. We are seeking a passionate and dedicated School Counselor to join our staff. In this vital role, you will support the social, emotional, behavioral, and academic development of students across elementary and middle school grades. You will foster a positive school climate, promote student well-being, and help students navigate challenges with confidence. You will collaborate closely with teachers, parents, and external agencies to ensure every child receives the guidance and support they need to thrive both academically and personally.
The School Counselor will be continuing a well-established, comprehensive school counseling program to support students in grades K-8. The Counselor will collaborate with students, parents and staff to ensure student success and well-being. The Counselor will be responsible for planning, organizing and delivering social and emotional lessons in classrooms as well as individual and group counseling support. A knowledge of community resources is essential to help connect families to the community.
Essential Duties:
- Provide direct student services, individual/group counseling services and crisis intervention to students.
- Plan and deliver classroom SEL lessons using the Zones of Regulation (2-8) and Little Spot of Emotions (K-1).
- Attend regular staff meetings such as child study and safety.
- Provide consultation for school staff regarding mental health issues.
- Provide support to school staff as necessary.
- Conduct group counseling as necessary.
- Implement engaging services to support students, parents and staff including crisis intervention.
- Connect families with community resources, provide referrals when necessary.
- Participate in 504 and IEP meetings and assist in implementing necessary accommodations and supports.
- Maintain confidentiality and ensure compliance with FERPA and ASCS Ethical Standards.
- Maintain counseling records and reports.
- Understanding of crisis intervention techniques, behavior plans and referral processes.
- Ability to collaborate with students, staff, families and community partners.
- Complete daily activity log and required reports.
- Other duties as assigned.
