Job Summary and Work Environment:
The CTE Health Careers Teacher is responsible for educating students about various health-related careers, medical terminology, patient care skills, and foundational healthcare concepts. They develop lesson plans, deliver hands-on training, and guide students through certification processes for entry-level healthcare roles. This teacher also coordinates with local healthcare providers to offer students real-world exposure through externships. The work environment is dynamic and interactive, combining classroom instruction with practical lab sessions. The role requires staying updated on current healthcare trends and ensuring that students are prepared for both post-secondary education and immediate workforce entry.
Qualifications:
· Valid CTE Certificate through the State of Arizona, or eligibility to obtain one.
· Prior healthcare experience and certification in fields such as nursing, medical assisting, or other related areas.
· Familiarity with healthcare technology, practices, and career pathways to ensure the curriculum aligns with industry standards.
· Must acquire an IVP fingerprint clearance card before beginning in the classroom.
· CPR certification before beginning in the classroom.
Skills: · Strong ability to convey complex medical concepts in an engaging and accessible manner for both classroom and clinical settings.
Responsibilities
· Implement a comprehensive curriculum introducing students to healthcare careers, focusing on foundational knowledge and specific job skills aligned with state CTE standards.
· Plan and lead hands-on training sessions, supervising students in practicing clinical skills and ensuring they gain real-world, practical experience.
· Organize and oversee student externship at local healthcare facilities, bridging classroom learning with practical applications.
· Regularly assess student progress through exams and practical evaluations, to ensure they meet program and industry standards.
· Foster relationships with local healthcare providers to enhance program offerings, secure guest speakers, and arrange externship placements.
· Uphold safety protocols to ensure a secure learning environment, and provide guidance on professional behavior and ethics in healthcare settings.

· Location: MICTED – Yavapai College Prescott Valley Campus
· Monday through Friday varied schedule
· Compensation will be determined based on certifications and experience
· Contract Term: Duration of the school year with the potential of renewal of a 10 month contract for the following school year
· This position is eligible for medical, dental, and vision benefits and is required to contribute to the Arizona State Retirement System (ASRS). Contributions are
