PAY: $17-18
JOB TYPE: Hourly, In-person. Estimated to be 25 hours weekly (9am-2pm Daily) with additional hours when needed for a substitute Guide role.
JOB DESCRIPTION:
The Instructional Assistant works to support learners and ensure their success in their educational environments. This position involves working closely with the studio Guide and under the supervision of the Assistant Director to provide intervention and behavior support to learners with diverse learning needs.
SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Learner Support:
Provide one-on-one or small group support to all learners including those with disabilities, assisting with instructional activities, assignments and accommodations.
Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment, encouraging independence and self-esteem in learners.
Assist in behavioral support needs and teach strategies for positive socio-emotional regulation, helping to maintain a productive and safe learning space.
Studio Assistance
Collaborate with the studio guide, interventionist and special education guide to implement curriculum and instructional strategies tailored to individual learner needs.
Substitute for Guide when they are out of the studio.
Personal Care: Aid learners with physical or medical care needs, as required, ensuring their well-being during school hours.
Data Collection: Document learner progress, behavior, and any pertinent information, contributing to the evaluation of learner progress
Communication: Maintain open and effective communication with guides and the Phoenix Modern team to discuss learner progress, challenges, and strategies.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
High school diploma or equivalent (Associate degree preferred)
Relevant experience in working with children with disabilities, preferably as a paraprofessional or guide/teacher assistant.
Understanding of the diverse needs of children with disabilities, including knowledge of
various disabilities and their potential accommodations.
Patience, empathy, and the ability to work effectively with a variety of learners.
Ability to follow IEPs and support instructional strategies.
CPR and First Aid certification
Compliance with background checks and other requirements as mandated

Our instructional approach at Phoenix Modern provides learners with significant opportunities to play an active role in their own learning and shape the community. On a typical day, learners engage in self-paced core skill development using a variety of tools and resources, participate in guided discussions, and immerse themselves in multi-week projects and workshops. Our mixed-age elementary and middle school studios are prepared for 20-25 learners, representing 2 grade levels in each studio.
