QUALIFICATIONS:
1.A Master's Degree from an accredited college or university.
2.A valid ADE SPED Teacher Certification and Supervisory Certificate or Administrative Certificate.
3.A Valid Arizona Department of Public Safety (IVP) Fingerprint Clearance Card
4.Must have good computer operating skills
5.Must have excellent communication/collaboration skills.
6.Well versed in Navajo Tradition and culture. (Preferred)
7.Experience working with Native American Students
8.Experience Developing, Documenting and Evaluating Educational Programs.
9.Preferably bilingual, Navajo/English
10. Structured English Immersion.

EMPLOYMENT:
SALARY:S alary is to be determined by district pay scale and Board.
POSITION GOAL: To provide a sound educational program for children who cannot sufficiency benefit from regular classroom programs.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1.Establishes procedures to process and place eligible pupils in special education classes from admission to dismissal,
including screening, referral, evaluation, placement, and implementing due process for students with identified disabilities.
2.Implements curriculum and program planning, and pre-service and in-service training for special education teachers.
3.Writes, submits and monitors applications for compliance of state and federal grants and financial aid for special education.
4.Develops budget recommendations and provides expenditure control on established budges for special education.
5.Develops and directs the implementation of programs for special education and gifted students as well as assists in the
development and implementation of 504 plans.
6.Assists in developing plans for physical facilities and makes recommendations on design, furnishings, and equipment as it
relates to special education students.
7.Recommends policies and programs essential to the needs of exceptional children.
8.Monitors information on legal requirements governing special needs education and school health.
9.Assists in the recruitment selection, and evaluation, special education personnel. Assumes responsibility for compiling,
maintaining, and filing reports and other legally required records.
10.Develops and maintains cumulative individual records of special education children and other who receive special services.
11.Directs the preparation of attendance reports and similar data as required for reimbursement of funds and for collection of tuition
for out-of-district students.
12.Interprets the objectives and programs of the special education services to the Governing Board, the administration, the staff,
and the patrons.
13.Maintains a permanent inventory of equipment purchased for special education.
14.Approves all supplies, materials, and texts used by special education personnel.
15.Supervises and coordinates all special education classroom programs.
16.Assists in the evaluation of all special education teachers.
17.Arranges with neighboring schools for the education of those handicapped students who cannot be served adequately in the
local district.
18.Supervised District health programs and staff.
19.Will assist in the preparation and distribution of Student Progress Reports and Report Cards.
20.Will prepare and submit to the Principals prior to leaving school at the end of the school year, a list indicating what class each
student will be placed into according to school policies and list of students according to class rank. A log of counseling session
data will be submitted at the end of each month.
21.Will prepare and present to the Principal a list of the students graduating or promoting as requested by the administration.
22.Will prepare and maintain a Special Education Handbook.
23.Organizes and administers and tabulates those standards tests required by the state and/or district and any accompanying
reports as needed. Plans and monitors FBAs, BMDs, LT suspensions and positive behavior supports (PBS) for SPED students.
24.Maintains accurate inventory records and faithfully submits budget requests, requisitions, and work orders according to school
and district policies/regulations/procedures.
25.Assists the administrators in implementing all policies/rules governing student life and conduct.
26.Attends all staff meeting as required and serves on all staff committees as required.
27.Strives to maintain and improve professional competence.
28.Performs other such tasks and assumes responsibilities as the Superintendent and Board may require.
29.Faithfully follows those procedures and complies with those requirements as stated in the District and handbook.
30.Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
