Job Description:

QUALIFICATIONS:    

1.   M.A. in education related field with Early Childhood emphasis preferred.
 2.   Secondary Principal's Administrative credential.
 3.   Minimum of three (3) years administrative experience at the secondary level.                       
 4.   Must be computer literate.
 5.   Strong emphasis in curriculum development preferred.       
 6.   Demonstrated abilities using leadership, supervisory, and administrative skills to permute the educational development of each student.
 7.   Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.
 8.  Ability to satisfactorily pass a background check, including positive references from       previous immediate supervisors.

TERMS OF                     Twelve (12) month year.

SALARY:                        Salary is to be determined by district pay scale and Board.
 
POSITION GOAL:       

To use leadership, supervisory, and administrative skills to permute the educational development of each student.
 
DUTIES AND                 
RESPONSIBILITIES:  

1.   Establishes and maintains an effective learning climate in school.
 2.   Programs classes within established guides to meet student needs.

 3. Supervises the guidance program to enhance individual student education and development.

  4. Establishes guides for proper student conduct and maintaining student discipline.

  5.Supervises the school's teaching process and functions as an instructional leader within the school.

6. Plans, organizes, and directs implementation of all school activities.

7. Initiates, designs, and implements district and funded programs to meet specific needs of the school.

8. Develops school improvement plans, organizes committees, and activities as needed for funded programs and accreditation purposes

9. Establishes and maintains favorable relationships with local community groups and individuals to foster understanding and solicit support for overall school objectives and programs: to interpret Board policies and administrative directives; and to discuss and resolve individual student problems.

10. Orients newly assigned staff members and assists in their development, as appropriate.

11. Evaluates and counsels all staff members regarding their individual and group performance based on school and district guidelines.

12. Is responsible for the collection and maintenance of computerized record keeping and preparation of reports, records, lists, and all other paper work required or appropriate to the school's administration.

13. Participates in principal's meetings, negotiation meetings, and such other meetings as required or appropriate.

14. Prepares and submits the school's budgetary requests, and monitors expenditures of funds.

15. Attends special events held to recognize student achievements, and attends school sponsored activities, functions, and athletic events.1

16. Maintains and controls the various local funds generated by student activities.

17. Cooperates with college and university officials regarding teacher training, preparation, and recruitment.

18. Works with various members of the central administrative staff on school problems in related areas, such as transportation, maintenance, special services, food services, etc.

19. Conducts staff meetings to keep members informed of policy changes, new programs, etc.

20. Keeps the superintendent informed of the school's activities and problems.

21. Keeps abreast of changes and developments in the profession by attending professional meetings, reading professional journals and other publications, and discussing problems of mutual interest with others in the field.

22. Guides the development, implementation, and evaluation of curriculum and instructional services within the elementary school.

23. Encourages the development, publications, and use of new instructional materials by the teacher assistant and the professional staff.

24. Maintains a curriculum library for staff use.

25. Coordinates the referral process for special services to ensure that students needing special education, visions, hearing, etc. receive available services.

26. Performs other such tasks and responsibilities as the Superintendent or Board may assign.
